Only if you use the app.. Another example of how smart phones and their apps report on the users. This confirms what I've been saying. To download the app you'll need a google or apple account where the data trail begins. I haven't entered any personal information onto my Garmin it doesn't know me from Adam.

BMW 5 Series looks nice. Post some pics of it! Congrats. AT least you can leave the gremlins behind in rear view mirror.

To mike: BMW yes they're fun cars. but they need a lot of upkeep past warranty. Lots of leaks, valvetronic, valve seals, etc, and suspension. if i had a nickle for every BMW suspension i fully rebuilt from the ground up.. in fact i have various BMW specialty tools i need to get rid of, taking up space.

Safety assessment: Good safety with good structure score, but BMW 5 Series still has elevated torso and pelvis loading in side crash, but still overall an improvement to the ES. (safety is a big factor when i consider a car switch)

Then you don't get real time traffic data, correct?

That would depend on the model of Garmin.

Which Garmin model do you use? Does it provide real time traffic data?

Aren't you the one who bought one and returned it because you didn't like it. You are not interested in Garmin so why are you questioning like you are doing a story?

Why don't you want to say which Garmin model you use?

I've answered every question you've asked up to now regardless your attitude. Tell me why you need to know?

You claim to have a Garmin that provides real time traffic info without a phone or other connection. I can't find such a device by searching for it. Others have asked if such a device exists, too. If you have one, please let us know what it is.

I can see where this is going. I'll give you the model number then you'll say you can't find proof. You'll put all this effort into trying to prove I'm wrong yet you did an incomplete job of searching for this available information. Do you even own a Lexus?

Why wouldn't I be able to find proof? If the model does what you are telling us it does, shouldn't we be able to look at it on the Internet to confirm?

I don't know anything about Garmin or any other 1970s tech, but I did ask ChatGPT Paid (Advanced) and this is what it comes up with. The tables don't translate well into copy/paste on forums, so sorry about that. Do with it what you will. instead of the table, i've just pasted the takeaway. but it summarizes that the answer is both yes and no dependent on model. unless im missing the question. just trying to help solve this issue.
  • Yes—buy a Garmin model with “Traffic/T/LMT-D” in the name and use the included traffic-receiver power cable → you’ll get real-time traffic without a phone.
  • Avoid “LMT-S/Live Traffic only” variants if you don’t want to use a phone.
  • Check the box contents for “traffic receiver/vehicle power cable” or an embedded receiver callout before you buy.

I believe that if you teach a man to fish you will feed him for a lifetime. My model is the previous top of the line model. Go fish. If you guess it I will tell you.
