Obsidian vs Caviar
We have a 2015 ES350 UL with exterior Obsidian and interior black. Shopping for a 2025 ES350 UL and cant seem to find one with exterior Obsidian. I found a few with Caviar exterior which I'm told is black but have never seen in person.
One dealer told me Obsidian has been replaced by Caviar. Other dealers have said Obsidian is just popular and tough to get now.

Correct! Apparently Lexus transitioned from offering the "Obsidian" color to "Caviar" for the ES - 7th Gen (2019-present).
The difference appears to be "Obsidian" being a deep black and "Caviar" offering a slightly warmer, metallic black tone.

Whether or not you can find new 2025 ESs built with those exterior colors is another matter.
They definitely still offer obsidian. A dealer close to me has a 2025 ES350 F Sport design in obsidian.

I know what you mean. I’m in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and before I ordered my F Sport, I considered a UL in either white or Obsidian with a Palomino interior. I could find at least two white/Palomino ULs, but not an Obsidian one. You should look at a Caviar UL. You may like it. I like metallic paint in every color except black. But it is a mica paint job, so you may like it. I have a friend that has a Caviar UL, and it looks good to me.

I stand corrected. Google AI gave me the wrong info on this.
The official Lexus online "build" page shows both colors as options for the 2025 MY. Just checked online and a few dealers have inventory on "Obsidian" exterior. So definitely still available.

I have a 2023 Caviar. I've never seen an obsidian one in the wild but I have seen them on dealer listings. When sunny out and my car has recently been cleaned, it's beautiful. You can see the metallic flake in the paint and it's nice. But most of the time, at least where I live here in PA and the pollen and dust is flying, the depth and metallic flake aspect of the caviar paint is null and void. It just looks like a dull dark gray. I don't hate it, but I don't like it. I came from a Honda Civic that had a typical obsidian-like black shiny paint job. It stays nicer looking for longer between washes, whereas within 2 days post-wash and wax my caviar ES 350 loses the shine due to the dust.
