I learned this issue early on as it was a real PITA. Now I open to the first detent and slide into the seat. Can easily reach the door grab... What I do like is the auto close feature...

My 23 has three detents. I like this approach. Wide, narrow or normal.

Genesis G90 has two buttons (one on door, one on center screen) to close the doors. You can also depress the brake pedal for auto close.

Wow of all the things to complain about a car, a door opening too wide is not even on my list. A door not opening wide enough (e..g. back seat) perhaps.

Show her how to open it only to the second detent. My guess is she’s sort of swinging it open each time. Once I noticed the difference after I bought the car it only took a day or so for muscle memory to set in and I don’t even think about it now.

But yeah, opened all the way is near impossible to reach while seated and I’m six feet tall.

Yeah I thought I had the muscle memory down but this was one of those times I let it swing open by accident. Got a chuckle out of it.
