Default Turanza EL440 Recall

This is not for the Turanza 235/45/18 which comes stock on the 2022 ES350 but it would certainly have me concerned if I still had them on my car. I like many others got rid of these tires not long after taking receipt of the car.

NHTSA Recall ID Number : 22T021 Synopsis : Bridgestone Americas Tire Operation (BATO) is recalling certain Firestone Destination LE2 tires, size P265/65R17 110S (DOT date codes 2522 through 2622) Bridgestone Alenza Sport A/S tires, size 235/55R20 102V (DOT date codes 2422 through 2722) and Bridgestone Turanza EL440tires, size 235/50R18 97V (DOT date codes 2521 through 2621). The tires may have sustained cuts and tears during the sorting process, which can result in tire damage. Damaged tires can lead to a sudden loss of air pressure and loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect and replace the tires, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed between December 19, 2022 and January 2, 2023. Owners may contact BATO's customer service at 1-800-847-3272.

Default 235/45r18

I have a new 2023 Lexus ES300h with the Bridgestone Turanza EL440 235/45R18. I had a tire blow out two days ago. Interior side wall slashed and my fender liner was ripped off the car. Lexus will not honor warranty. 1400 miles on car. I may just replace the remaining three tires. Seems like these tires are trash.

Wouldn't the Tire warranty on a 2023 ES300h, be through Bridgestone, not Lexus? Check your documentation.

From page 33 of the Lexus 2023 ES 300h Warranty and Services Guide [pdf version]:
All tires supplied as original equipment on new Lexus vehicles are warranted by the individual tire manufacturer only, and not Lexus. ...
Along with all the other supplied new car hardcopy documentation, there should be a hardcopy of the BRIDGESTONE/Firestone TIRE MAINTENANCE, SAFETY and WARRANTY MANUAL in the stack of paper. (The link is to the Bridgestone website's "Warranty Manual (Original Equipment Tires)" "WARRANTY DETAILS OE USA/CANADA (ENGLISH)" "(For tires purchased after January 1, 2021)" version.)

The big question, though, is what "Interior side wall slashed " implies for tire blowout. If it implies a road hazard slashed the tire causing a subsequent blowout - not covered. If I've read the warranty info correctly, damage/failure from a road hazard is specifically excluded from OEM tire warranties.

Even if one supposed the damaged tire is covered by the OEM tire warranty, it may be 1) a moot issue by now or 2) unfavorable/undesirable conditions on warranty replacement.

For 1) the warranty requires claim evaluation and replacement be performed by a Bridgestone/Firestone authorized tire dealer. If the tire has already been replaced at somewhere other than one the authorized dealers, almost guaranteed no chance of a warranty claim being honored.

For 2) the warranty claimed replacement is going to be the same tire - a Bridgestone Turanza EL440 - with the tire related work performed by a Bridgestone/Firestone authorized tire dealer.

I am sorry to hear this; I am starting to pickup on a theme that Lexus tries not honor anything under its warranty. I was really expecting better service than this. This may be my last Lexus if they are going to be just like all the other dealerships. My last car was an Audi and I can honestly say Audi always sided with the customer when it was questionable as to whether it should be covered under warranty. Keep your receipts in case a larger recall is conducted.

Oh man, that's scary! Sorry to hear that. I guess the upgraded Quiet Rims come with Michelin Energy tires, so I won't have to worry about this recall on our 23 300hl

My vehicle comes with the quiet rims but equipped with Turanza EL440. It appears only ones made in Kentucky are equipped with Michelin tires. They are better compare to Turanza.

I totally forgot about this thread. Our '23 was built in Kentucky and came equipped with the Turanza EL440 235/45R18s. So no recall.

The El440 tires may not be the best but this recall and OP’s blowout say nothing about their inherent quality or performance.

Buy from another company that a third party...
and you have to go to the original manufacture to get the warranty.

lexus doesn’t make tires so you have to go to the company to deal with that issue since Lexus don’t state that they warranty the tires..
wear and tear

ex... if it’s from depot home let’s say if there any issues from
The item you have to go to the Company that made that item to get the warranty unless Home Depot gives you warranty from the start which they do but I don’t know about Lexus but if they were smart and nice they would replace it for you since you bought the car from them but not everybody’s like that good luck..!!
