Live TV on an ES Navigation Screen
I think Japan has been doing live TV broadcasts in their cars for a couple decades now. it's the norm there. I guess they use it responsibly.
In terms of our cars, I think what you mean is "mirroring" there are companies that make modules that allow it but 1) it's expensive and 2) I doubt you'll be able to DIY it so that's more cost.

However it is quite common for drivers to install a defeat device and the cops don't really pull people for it.
GS47,
Having been inspired by your excellent commentary I made the trip yesterday to my local (UK) dealership to study what Lexus have done with the 2022-model dash. Like you, I am OCD with a car's interior design and this is what took me to the '21 ES.
Certainly the flow lines for the new screen have been spoiled by bringing the pod forward and just maybe those who have never seen the earlier dash would be less concerned. Fact is there is an appetite for a touch screen rather that the trackpad and leaving the screen where it was would have been unworkable.
For me, I rarely need to set up a route on the navigation so it's no big deal. As I have previously stated, using the trackpad on a right-hand drive car is much more fiddly if you happen to be right-handed.
In virtually all respects the ES is a fine car and most rewarding to drive. In the UK Lexus give a 10-year warranty, ie 3-years with a 1- year extension following each annual service. I would be curious to know if it is the same in the US.

I'm left handed and using the (US) trackpad with my right hand has become second-nature. When using navigation, it's so much easier to say "go to dunkin donuts," and we're off and running.
