Lexus installed GPS is terrible
I remember the old days when the first cars with GPS, the 98 7 Series, 99 Acura TL/RL (could've been a year or two earlier but around there), the in-car navigation was DVD-based and depended on using an up to date physical DVD (the updates were few and far between) I can't imagine how bad it must've been to use. but still, everyone was wowed by it. it was exotic. it was sought after! Also it was a $2,000 option IIRC.

I had a 1991 Toyota Soarer 4.0 Limited with the EMV Trim:
- Electro-multivision, Global Positioning System
A driver information system known as "Electro-multivision" has been adopted which can show the car's location on a map, and display vehicle information on a 6-inch color liquid crystal screen. It is available on the 4.0GT Limited.
The vehicle navigation display adopts a newly developed global positioning system (GPS) utilizing satellites. This advanced navigation system includes such functions as map matching―which automatically adjusts the screen display relative to the actual location of the car―and the world's first route information system, which can display standard routes to given destinations.
My personal experience is I've used all the standard apps, Google, Apple and Waze. As well as several generations of Lexus nav. I find they all have pros and cons. Haven't really had an issue with the latest Lexus Gen 11 nav systems. They are way better than previous versions. But no system is perfect for sure.
