Lexus, please bring back the sunglasses storage compartment!
Hello Everyone, I have been a long time Lexus fan and have owned many over the years. Sometime around 2011 I got a new Lexus and was immediately disappointed to see that there was no place to hold my sunglasses. Every Lexus I had prior to this had a little drop-down compartment above the rear view mirror to safely hold my sunglasses. I have now just traded up to a 2019 ES300h and once again there is no place to hold my sunglasses. LEXUS,,, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring this feature back.
Thanks for listening.

I have had sunglass holders in almost all of my cars over the years and never once used them. I always found them too small for my sunglasses and its not like I use very big sunglasses. I just throw them in the center console because of that.
I may have a throwaway type pair that I might keep up there if it has one, but even basic Ray Ban Wayfarers can be a a tough fit. In many cars it gets super hot up there too, so if you take the glasses out the legs could be super toasty if metal.
My wife's sunglasses would never fit up there, and they're pricey and would probably get scratched up even with the felt padding that some have in there.
Most of them go back in their cases into the center console.
I suspect that those little flip-down compartments were probably eliminated from cost-cutting, but, just the same, there are a number of different compartments in modern vehicles where sunglasses can be kept. I wouldn't get too riled over the loss of just one of them.
Most cars have put in their connected technology hardware up there, so not really cost cutting, They've seen and heard that less people are using them, need space up high for additional hardware. Not everything is an attack on costs.

i hardly used the compartment as well and likely Lexus did a market survey to see if it's still needed in newer models. that's also probably why they still have CD disk slots...?

Have one and never used it. Tight fit and not worth the time opening it up placing them in then closing it. With a return trip of opening taking them out and closing. I simply lay them on the center console or side door compartment bin.
