The Toyota dealer is 10 minutes away and the Lexus dealer is 30 minutes. I go to both equally. The Toyota dealer is less expensive. My method is i never go in an ask for a 15,000 or 30,000 mile scheduled maintenance. i would be paying big bucks for a lot of inspections of things i do not need inspected. Every 10,000 miles I get an oil change and tire rotation. I bring my own oil and filter. Filter is bought on line for $5 and the Mobil 1 is bought at Walmart for $23 for a five quart jug. They charge $30 labor for the oil change and $ 30 for the tire rotation. Every 20,000 miles, I replace the air and cabin air filters which take less then 5 minutes and cost $40. At 30,000 mile intervals,I have the brake fluid replaced which is $120. I usually sell my cars with about 100,000 miles and usually buy two year old CPO which gives me my first four services free. These all added up cost me less then $1,000 every 100,000 miles.

If my math is correct, you're paying $88.00 for an oil change with you going to Walmart for the oil... My Lexus dealer gets less than $80.00 for a change. The $30.00 each for rotation and labor to change the oil seems exorbitant to me. While you're picking up the oil at Walmart get a tire rotation also for $10.00...

Having said that, i just want to get your opinion on getting your oil change/routine services done elsewhere as I am not keen on bringing my vehicle back to that dealership. Do any of you service your lexus at a Toyota dealership? TIA
That's actually the same dealer where I bought my 2015 ES. I really had no complaints about them other that the cost which is a given. I got the cars serviced there until the 4 year warranty ran out, and from then on elsewhere.

You mind telling us what your complaints are on the delivery issues?

Oil is $23, my filter is $5 and the labor is $30 for a total of $58. I use the Mobil 1 rebate that is twice a year in the spring and fall which is $12 for the five quart jug. That brings the net for the oil change to $46. No way would I make a second appointment at Walmart to save a few bucks for a tire rotation. The other reason i bring my own oil is my local Lexus Service Manager told me if I came in and bought oil I would buy Toyota synthetic made by Mobil. In the shop they use oil from drums and he told me the brand just can not remember it. I had heard of the brand but certainly not one of the top oil brands like Mobil, Pennzoil, Castrol etc.

Apparently my math was INCORRECT... I added in your tire rotation of $30.00 incorrectly. Your change for $46.00 is a very good price. Sorry Fred...

I'm confused by this. The Lexus Service Manager said they would use Toyota synthetic made by Mobil, but "in the shop" they would use a different brand? What shop?

Took my car in today for oil change and misc stuff, wind noise, fuel door isn't popping out enough to open, recall fuel pump. Anyway the service advisor asked if I really wanted my oil change at 5k miles, I said yeah and idk on this car it's 10k. I'm not waiting until 10k for an oil change, just wondering how often you all get your ES oil changed? I had the scheduled service done at 6500 in early June so I drive a lot. They did put me in an NX, it's a nice car but I like the ES better in terms of ride.

Read your OM. Recommends 5k oil change if you drive under certain “special” conditions. I change my own oil but since you will already be there I would tell the dealer to change it. Tell them you do mostly short tripping on dusty dirty roads.

If I went into the parts department and purchased oil I would buy a quart of Toyota synthetic oil. If I get my car oil change in the service department/shop they use this different oil because apparently they can not get the Toyota oil in drums. I have seen these drums. They are five gallon drums on wheels with a tube. So there is no opening of quart jugs etc. They put the tube with a gauge in the crankcase and dispense the oil. Much faster for them. My bet is the gauge has a way to set for 4, 5, 5.5 quarts etc and they just hit start and the exact amount for every different model is dispensed. Going for an oil change on Thursday and will ask the brand they use in the service department/shop. Attached is a pic of a similar looking equipment they use.

My issues with RH Lexus was with the person showing me the car during pre-delivery inspection. He admitted that he was not familiar with the ES and he didn't think my car came with backup sensors, didn't explain any of the safety features (braking assist/cross traffic...), i had to learn those myself from manual/youtube, this was my first new car in 14 years, so lots have changed since my 2006 acura. When i drove off, i noticed spilled coffee in the cup holder.

I complained about these issues with Lexus Canada, but no one from the dealership acknowledges any of these issues.

You mind telling us what your complaints are on the delivery issues?
