Garage Remote Required to Program Buttons
The HomeLink system requires a remote to program the mirror buttons? If that's the case, what does one do if their remote is broken or lost?
Specifically, I used a remote to program my car for my car, but want to program a second button for our second door.
Thanks
Del

Key to the procedure is that there be a frequency to act on.
As built the HL buttons are blank. kalel2127 is right. You could
also take the outside keypad which (unlike the kitchen door jamb
mounted button) is actually a transmitter and use that to establish
green light status you need.

Thanks to you both. Read about the keypad earlier and just got off the phone with a HomeLink rep who said it's one remote per door/button and a universal is not a certainty to work.
You have two easy options:
1) buy a new remote for the brand of door opener you have. Chamberlain, Lift Master, Genie etc. Set the DIP switch to your door opener motor, program that in the code loop, then transfer that signal to your car. Cost aprox $30
2) borrow a neighbor's remote, set the DIPs to your motor, program, transfer to car, and then restore the switches back to their house code. Cost, bottle of wine for your friends.
The first option is probably better since you get to keep a remote that would be used for future car links.
