I haven't been over there lately but I thought this would have been changed by now and self serve allowed... Guess not... N.J. still has very low prices.
Sooo, the plot thickens with my ES. I dropped the car off yesterday for service and took an Advisor to the gas station to show him the issue. He was dumbfounded that the nozzle would not fit into my tank to lock in place. They asked me to leave the car with them to look into it further and well, that is where things get worse. I got a notification from the Lexus App that my car made it to a 'destination' yesterday which is weird since it was left at Lexus of Seattle. The app shows that someone drove my car for 1 mile for 51 minutes and had Harsh Cornering, Fast Acceleration and Harsh Breaking. Check out the pic I attached. I spoke to the Service DIrector and he addressed the issue head on and saying that my car should have never left the lot and asked for a screen shot from the Lexus app, which I provided. I told him that I would also forward him my Dashcam footage once I have my car back so he can see first hand how my car was driven. Needless to say, I am a bit pissed off.

It's not uncommon for the tech to take the customer's vehicles on their lunch break.

I would be very unhappy if anyone - tech or anyone else - drove my car to pick up a sandwich. Especially since the app shows harsh cornering, fast acceleration, and harsh braking... This thread is going from bad to worse... What did they say about the gas inlet?

I believe there are two other states in addition to NJ.
With regard to the OP's problem with not having the gas pump "connect", curiosity makes me still want to see pictures showing what the problem is. I don't know what the OP means when he/she says that it will not "lock in place". I have no idea what "lock in place" means.

Illinois has had self-service gas for decades, but there is currently a bill in the Illinois General Assembly that would make self-service gas illegal again. I haven't followed that bill closely enough to know what the motivation for that would be.

Don't get your hopes up on anything happening with this. A tech not even qualified to be working on my old Corvette did the same thing. I have dashcam video of him going WOT in my car several times, doing nearly 90mph on residential roads, and when I talked to the service manager all I got was attitude from a**hole. I even filed a claim with GM and they did absolutely nothing.
