Default Weird quick deceleration - ES300h

So i just got my car back from the dealership service (routine check-up), and am now experiencing weird quick deceleration when driving on the highway. I have to constantly keep depressing the gas pedal to keep the speed constant, leaving my foot off the pedal for even just a few seconds will cause the car to slow down much quicker than before. It almost seems like theres something dragging it, slowing it down, the speedometer/gauge shows it's charging the battery as it slows down, but i remember the car still was able to keep the speed relatively the same if i left my foot off for a bit and it takes longer for the car to slow down. Any hybrid owner out there with this issue - i cant imagine what the service dept could have done to cause this...

How many bars on the regen is it showing? Is it same as before?
Were you in Eco mode before and had AGC on and service put it into normal mode?

Nope, normal mode all the time. Im seeing about 5-6 bars without engaging the brake at highway speed, and 3-4 bars at city speed 60km/h.

I have a gas loaner, and it does the same thing. Let go of the gas and it's like the brake is on. Weird.

My gas model doesn't behave that way at all.

i think the culprit may be the heating system. I tried turning the heat off, and the engine immediately behaved differently, it felt freed up, great acceleration and no longer feel dragging.

I guess that is unique to the hybrid but what do you do in the winter

It is certainly not unique to all hybrids. Mine does NOT behave this way. It would defeat the “pulse and glide” technique to maximize hybrid fuel economy. I would return it to the dealer. There is no way I would find that behavior acceptable.

On the freeway, how long does yours maintain speed of 100km/h after letting foot off the gas pedal? Mine slows down within 1 second. I did test it on a steep downhill today, and the car was able to glide and actually increase speed without touching the gas or brake.

I’m not sure. My sense is that it begins to slow pretty quickly when removing my foot from the gas at that speed but I couldn’t realistically estimate exactly how many seconds. I will have to experiment at the higher speeds and really pay close attention. My experience is mostly at slower speeds since I don’t often get out of town.

From MID in instrument cluster, check if Active Glide Control (AGC) is active. It gets activated in ECO mode and does not function in other modes.
As soon as you let go off gas pedal, AGC icon appears in engine power graphics in MID.

Any update? Did you determine the culprit?
