They are rated 20w @ 4ohm which is to spec for my ML amp and current stock speakers so they should be good but only one way to find out. 🤞

I saw those Infinity Reference Speakers in 3.5" as will as JBL's which are also rated to spec so it's good to know that the Infinity's are good. Thank you for that my friend. 🙏 Do the Infinity's play louder than your original speakers. I noticed they have a 89 db sensitivity rating but I could be confusing them with the JBL's now that I think of it.

3.5 speakers won’t fit the ES, bolts/connection points are too short. There was .25 of an inch distance from the other screw. Unlesss you find 3.5 speakers with elongated connection points. However, most are built to similar specs. The 4” infinity that I got from my RX dropped in ES but a little too deep, the magnet was too big and was making contact with whatever is underneath in there. If it was few mm shorter no problem. I need to find a 4” with a little shorter magnet and will drop in.

also, the infinity reference are my ch louder than factory. Even the wife was laughing when I took the oem plastic speaker out. She thought they were from toysrus….cheap cheap junk

Mine definitely look a bit different but not by much. I was able to get the P132's and they fit perfectly left right and center depth wise. I see what you mean about one being too short. I was thinking to bolt one side and zip tie the other securely then tighten the bolt. No need as if yet tho because while the build quality of this speaker is really good, the sound isn't at 85db sensitivity. Going to look for something with a higher sensitivity that I can get here in Canada because the Infinitity reference at the moment is showing long ship times to Toronto. Pannels are off now so no going back till I get good sound. 😅

Can anyone here with ML sound system recommend good 3.5" speakers that provided a cleaner, higher volume sound in your ES once you changed them? Appreciate any and all assistance always. 🙏

Default Center Speaker Removal

Something I noticed after testing 3.5" Rockford Fosgate P132's In my car.

I removed the center and right side speaker and tested on both. Sound was clear but quieter than the OEM ML speakers. After putting the stock speakers back in I decided to leave the center Speaker out because I've always felt like it plays loudest of the front sound stage and its weird at first if you're not use to it. Started the car for a few minutes after with the center speaker removed and stock left and right speakers back in and I actually think it sounds better now with the center speaker removed from the equation. Will have to listen to a bit more carefully on the way to work tomorrow. Just an observation I thought I'd share.

Got a pair of the Infinity Reference REF-4032cfx 4" speakers today off Amazon and I was able to get them in temporarily with Zip-Ties just to test out the sound for a few days. They are in there pretty solid and I checked to make sure the magnets arn't touching any metal. Takes a bit of twisting and turning once seated but they do fit and as far as I can tell looking at the grill cover clip holes the covers should go on easy once I'm ready. Once I'm sure I want to keep them ill take them out and wrap the adapter wire with electrical tape and use stronger zip ties that are a bit thicker with some speaker foam and around the speaker hole edge to seal the gaps a bit better. 💯

Inside the far right side of the right speaker hole and far left side of the left speaker there is a piece of metal near the magnet that I was able to bend out of the way a bit with my just my hand in the speaker hole. After a few days when I take them back out I'll bend it more with a large angled plier I have that should work perfectly. 🤞

I see now why members are raving about these on this form for different generations of the ES and other Lexus vehicles. The sound is really good. You can hear everything clearly. ✨ Very happy with the result so far and I've only changed out the left and right dash speaker and ever with the middle currently removed the sound still sounds better than before. 💪

I'm still breaking mine in but one thing I've noticed is that these speakers are quieter than the OEM speakers at lower volumes and they only really start to shine after 30 volume on my Mark Levinson system/amplifier. I think they need the higher power at that level to produce good output which makes sense on a stock amplifier. Haven't gone past 30 volume steady yet but I did turn it to 36 just for a second during a part of a new song I like and wow! Sooooo much better. The two I've changed so far are actually keeping up with my subs (level wise) which is impressive. 😶 Will keep you guys posted on progress from here forward but so far I'm really happy with them and want to thank everyone here for steering me in the right direction. 🙏💯💙

This forum has really helped me achieve incredible sound from my car in comparison to what it was when I picked it up and I appreciate each and every single one of you. 🙏🙏🙏

thats impressive, I wasn’t able to fit the 4 inch infinity on the right side which was the only side I tried on as there was some connections inside that opening, tubes/wires not too sure because they were insulated that wouldn’t allow the right corner speaker to sit all the way down. Was sticking up like 10 mm and was making contact with it.

Also, did you have to modify the speaker ears, did you cut them or you can fit them somehow without citing them?

so, I am not sure how you made yours fit.

looking at your last zip tie pic it doesn’t even align with the bolt hole…..

Took a bit of turning and shifting to drop in. I think I know why you mean on the right side. If it was 10mm (1cm) it was likely the connector cord or the adapter plug it self in between the magnet and bottom stoping the speaker from dropping down fully. I had to kind of push it to the side and hold it to the side with a finger while dropping the speaker in otherwise it would get stuck in between. Same thing with the left side dash speaker.

I was able to avoid having to cut any of the speakers mounting rivets. The bolt holes won't line up with the speakers mounts on one side but I assure you the zip ties are holding it well. It's not moving at all. I tried to use one bolt to make it more secure but the bolt is too think for the horseshoe space I between the mounting gap of the speaker. Didn't want to force anything and to be honest, I like the zip tie method. Just make sure the zip tie is angled so it's just not on the metal part but also securing the plastic from the corner.

Ill try to send more pictures when I do the middle and re-do the side speakers.

Default Center Dash Speaker Upgrade

Center Speaker is in! Had to snap two of the mount hooks off this speaker to fit it but once I did it fit perfectly. All I did was hold the speaker in one hand and use a plier in the other to bend the horseshoe mount back and forth till it snapped off perfectly with a clean cut line. No cutting tool required. Just be careful to place the plier flat over the exact part you want to remove and bend carefully so that you don't warp the speaker itself.

There is a cable grommet on the inside of the mount hole towards the inside south interior side if looking at the speaker hole from inbetween the passenger and driver seat. There is a plastic mount holding that wire grommet in place that had to to popped out and moved to the side. I didn't want to risk cutting it off and cutting a wire in the process because it's super hard to see from inside the car with the screen blocking the view and you can't reach the center Speaker hole from the outside of the car while looking in. I used the reflection from the windshield to kind of see what I was doing. Speaker has to go in on an angel to keep that wire grommet pushed up along the side till the 4" speaker drops in. Once it does it sits perfectly. Used good quality zip ties again this time and man O man is it mounted nicely and not moving at all what so ever! 💯 Run the zip ties first and clip then in a few clicks so that they are large rings in the speaker mount holes before you even put the speaker in. Once in you can move them around the hooks you want and then tighten. ✅ Used this method on all three speakers and works like a charm.

Sound really comes to life with all three speakers changed and from driving around a bit after, I forsure can tell that it almost now seams like all 3 front dash speakers are firing at same level in comparison to my stock ML speakers that always felt like the majority of the sound/volume was coming out of the center Dash Speaker. Still breaking them in but I took it up to 44 after an hour of play and Holly smokes! 😶 The output clarity and separation of Mid/Treble is incredible! 💗 I see what they were saying about these Infinity speakers in the other ES generation sections of this fourm when they were mentioning that voice and upper mids sound different but in a really really good way and definitely better. 🔥

Covers should go on perfectly in a few days. Tried to put some speaker foam on the sides of the mountimg part of the center Speaker so that the cover/speaker grill doesn't crush the speaker but I might use some 3m rubber feet instead and then speaker foam around the edge of the speaker but I don't think that's completely necessary.

Definitely a highly recommended upgrade if you want better sound. 💯 So far so good!

If I was that dissatisfied, I would sell it - life is just too short. Alternatively, there are some that have gone to a car stereo shop and purchased the bits needed to make the system function to their expectations. I understand it is a bummer on a new car, and not a cheap car, so please don’t think I am dismissing anyone else’s opinion, but my wife and I are perfectly happy with it.

I was wondering if anyone has tried this from PAC. I’m about to upgrade my sound system on my 2021 ES350. Thanks.

I recently replaced my 27 year old Miata sound system with one put in by the local stereo shop. Made a world of difference and didn’t cost much.
I don’t know much about sound systems and I’m perfectly satisfied with the system in my 2021 350 ES but if you’re unhappy, these local stereo guys can often do wonders affordably.

I've used the lower connector on my 7th GEN ES with great results. Works really well to aftermarket speakers accordingly. I still have the stock speakers in the doors but will be changing them soon. Some of the speakers were different from the diagram so I had to test each with a speaker wire powered and label whivh wire pair was which speaker because almost every wiring diagram I found online was wrong pin wise. Night and day difference so far tho and highly recommended. 💯

Default Fix avaliable for low rear sound bias

I have a 2019 ES 350 F-sport with standard audio system. I found this somewhere else in this forum. There is a technical service bulletin (L-SB-0020-20 Low rear sound Bias) that will allow you to take your 2019 ES 350 or ES 300H in and have the amplifier replaced. I just had this done this weekend and it definitely helped. I have the standard stereo not the ML upgrade. I now have a lot more sound from the rear door speakers and a ton more bass overall. Best part it was still covered under warranty. Just made it in under the 48 month/ 50,000 mile period. Now the back speakers are not super loud they are quite small compared to the front but now they don't sound like a broken AM radio speaker. I have attached the service bulletin below. Do make sure that the dealership gets the right part as they ordered the wrong one for me and I had to make a second trip to get it installed. The part is different based on your infotainment system nav vs. non-nav system. either way you look at it if you are lucky enough to get it under warranty it will help. May not be perfect but it is a lot better. Good Luck.

I have the 2019 premium ES (non-ML), anyone here have any idea as to just upgrading the centre/corner dash speakers, as well as the lower front door speakers make the sound as good (or even better) as the ML with the standard amp?

Also Crutchfield shows Kicker KS series (88 dB sensitivity) as well as infinity reference (91dB sens.) for the dash. Would the factory amp be enough to power Kicker KS (given that it has lower sensitivity, so it would need more power to function)?

Do you know if they have the same document for 2020 and 2021?

The 2020 and 2021 already have the upgraded amp, except for a few 2020s manufactured in Sept 2019 or so.
