Default Near Accident

A very disturbing thing happened to me early Thursday morning. While traveling about 35 MPH, I was severely cut off by another driver. I had to slam on my brakes and veer right slightly to avoid hitting the other car by about 1 foot. I'm OK and my 7 week-old car is OK, but I was very rattled by the whole thing and didn't settle back down for a couple of days. I'm still replaying the video in my head repeatedly, but it doesn't have nearly as much force as it did for the day or 2 afterwards.

Thinking about it this weekend, there was no screeching sound or any other strained behavior by my ES. It was eerily quiet and well behaved. It was like the car was completely at ease about the whole thing. The only thing strange was that there was a strange message on the Center Display. I don't recall what the message was, but was something unrelated to the incident. I hit a button (don't remember which) and the Center Display went back to normal.

He’s asking if the message on the display asked if you paid your premium. He was making a funny.

I see. Thanks for the explanation.

Unfortunately, I'm not seeing any humor in what happened at the moment. You would not believe the thoughtless maneuver this guy pulled. I presume I was in his blind spot.

So sorry that happened. Thankfully, neither you or your Lexus was hurt!

It was probably PCS - usually display shows BRAKE in red or something like that before it gets ready to slam on the brakes itself.

The Driver Information Display very likely went entirely RED with BRAKE in White letters, the radio would
have muted and if DavidZ had not hit the brakes the car would have. This is the Pre Collision System at
its best. Videos showing this at Lexus.com and Lexusdrivers.com

No, it was nothing like that at all. The message on the screen was something like "your phone is not connected" or something else totally unrelated to the incident. I don't remember the specific message, but I distinctly recall that it was completely unrelated to the incident.

If you had your phone connected through USB, slamming brakes could of yanked the cable and lost connection.

Just reading this thread. So glad you avoided a potential accident caused by such a careless individual.
