I tried out CarPlay with Google Maps for the first time today and have some questions.
1) How do you zoom in and out in Google Maps?
2) On the Lexus Navigation, there are dots on the streets. The dots seem to only be on streets that I have previously traveled. The dots went away when I turned off CarPlay. What do these dots mean?
1) You have to click on the directional arrow on the lower right corner. Then you can select zoom level.
2) You have Route Trace switched on. It basically just tells you where the car has driven. To turn off: click Map button, go to Map Options (third icon down on right), select Route Trace.
Here's another question. I like to keep the right side of the Center Display on Audio. Every time I get on a highway, the Freeway Exit List appears in that spot. Is there a way to stop this from happening?

Unfortunately not (or I haven’t found it yet) but I think if enough people complain, Lexus will have to release an update to change that setting.
I had contacted my dealer Tech support guy regarding my nav/infotainment system randomly rebooting. He said he had two updates on a USB stick if I wanted to come by he'd put them on. He wasn't sure they would fix my particular problem but the info did say something about "stability fixes" - it was also supposed to fix some issue with CarPlay. I live close to the dealership so I swung by yesterday and he put them on... one nice think the tech guy pointed out is that you can now shut off the annoying freeway exits popping up continually as you drive down the highway!
One other note... there is another new thread that discusses some recent updates that are user installable. I updated that thread too with this info. Not sure if they are the same updates, but the tech guy just used a USB stick to install these so I'm guessing they are the same and that you should be able to download and install yourself?

I've always liked the freeway exit list being there. But what is state border guidance?

Me, too. I discovered last weekend that when you cross a state line, it say's "welcome to ...." whatever state you entered. Waze does, too.
I decided to use Waze on Apple CarPlay for my 800 mile trip to Wyoming and South Dakota. It worked pretty well, except for places I would expect poor reception. I was also listening to music on Tidal, and it kept stopping when I was guessing poor reception. I switched to Off Line mode, but it didn't stop stopping. Then it just came back in some apparently random period of time. I'm not sure how it works, but that surprised me. On the way home, Tidal stopped at one point, and never came back. That's when I discovered CarPlay was gone too,so I tried the Lexus Nav (it worked). That stopped Waze navigation, and I couldn't restart navigating. It kept telling me (for almost 2 hours) that I had no internet connection, but I had a strong signal several times. I eventually unplugged my phone (stopping CarPlay) and closed out of Waze completely. When I restarted both, everything worked normally and I was able to navigate the rest of the way home..
It just seems flaky and not 100% reliable. It may have something to do with what I'm trying to use it, but there is no one you can ask. I can't tell if it's a Lexus issue, an Apple issue, or a Tidal issue. It doesn't help that the issues seem intermittent.
Whenever you're using cell data coverage, theres going to be issues when traveling as you go in and out of coverage. Tidal also uses a lot of data, and when coverage is spotty it gets glitchy.

Even in "Off Line" mode?!?! That 90% of the reason I switched to Tidal!

Really? I'll have to look into my nav settings to see if I have that turned off because I do have to go to another state this weekend.
I don't think I've seen the notification anymore that you've crossed time zones and do you want to reset the clock. My '14 CT did it and it did reset it's digital clock but I don't think my current '17 IS200t has ever given me that same notification.
