i was getting my car serviced at the dealership and the salesrep told me that the 2020 ES will be offered in AWD
he also told me that 2019 is officially the last GS

i have no scientific evidence to back this up, just the lexus salesrep talking
for me it is worth it to wait a year for awd model

I understand you're just sharing the info you heard, but I'd take anything a salesman says with a grain of salt...

Seeing how these salesmen are so clueless these days about the cars they ARE selling, makes me not believe anything they say about what's still to come..

I was speaking with a salesman at my local dealership, and he was insisting that the 2019 ES hybrid model is an ES 450h.....And the car is on his lot, in his inventory as the ES 300h...Unbelievable...

Now, on an unrelated side note; I wish if the hybrid was actually a 450h!! Would be a bit higher performance, and I'd definitely consider the hybrid in that case. Lol

 

You can always tell if a salesman is slinging BS. See if his lips are moving...

Actually I confirm that, Lexus will introduce the AWD ES in 2020 and this is the reason there is a hump in the center of the rear floor. This is straight from Lexus in their last dealers meeting from a friend who attends these meeting. I can not confirm the part about the GS because I asked the same question and he said that so far there is nothing from Lexus to confirm the end of the GS although there is a lot of speculations but nothing is officially confirmed.

There's always been a hump in the back floor on the ES. My 2013 has one.

 

When you see the hump in the new ES you'll know what I'm talking about.

 

FWIW, my 03 and 2010 ESs also had humps in the rear floor. My 03 had quite a big hump, bigger than the hump in the 2019.

Has there ever been an AWD Camry or Avalon in recent generations? If that's the case, then don't hope for an AWD ES magically popping up. There has to be room for a long propshaft and rear driveshafts. Another option on the ES300h would be to use a small electric motor for the rear, assuming there's enough room for rear driveshafts.

At one point in the video he says "I don't know a lot about these cars". Uhh, then why make a video???
