Default Temp Range for AT

What is the minimum and maximum temp we should use when adjusting fluid level after a fill and drain? I think the minimum either 94 or 97??? And will I need a 5 mm hex to remove both the plug and the overflow tube?

Is this for your 2019 ES 350?
At present how many miles and time on the tranny fluid?
Has it been changed before?
Are you using Toyota WS tranny fluid?
I think the hex is 6mm,?
Let the car cool down a bit so the tranny fluid is below the min and then drain and fill and then do the temp reading to elevate to 104- 113.
What are your means to get the car up and check for level?

I am sure you know, remove the fill plug 1st or else if fluid is drained 1st no way to add if fill plug stuck.

Please Post results

Please you peeps, do some math. It’s simple physics and chemistry.

The thermal expansion value for ATF is about .07%/degree C. It’s insanely small. use common sense.

At any outdoor temp over 70F and under 120F, that means a difference of about 3 fluid ounces in a typical 9/10 quart fill. Or to put iin other terms, a vastly smaller margin of error than the factory fill. Do the math, get a grip, stop the nonsense. Check the fill the with the car running, after shifting through gears, as long as it’s not freezing or you are not in the Atacama in summer. Think, do math, get a grip, and don’t succumb to dealership nonsense promulgated to dissuade you from DIY work.

“Check the will with the car running…”. What do you mean by “the will”?

fill. (Shorthand for “fill level” in lubrication talk)

iPads are terrible at re-arranging your typing to go back and change it to make it what it thinks fits. I proofread but missed that. Sorry. Corrected.

Also never assume the factory fill is correct. It can (and does) vary up to a quart. If you took out 2 qts, put in 3, didn’t check the fill level, it’s no mystery. It was not filled correctly. It’s very common. I’ve seen GS’s 2 qts under-filled from the factory.
