Default 2024 ESh Easy Access

Friends, I’m hoping someone can set me straight on the correct sequence to activate my Easy Access/ Easy Exit. Mine seems to be intermittent, but it’s more likely me. Is the sequence engine off - belt off - door open? My driver’s seat rarely backs up.

With a new left knee, this feature is especially helpful. Has anyone perfected the operation of it?

It goes into the driving position when you either: buckle your seatbelt or start the car.
It goes back to the exit position when you either: unbuckle your seatbelt (with the car OFF) or stop the car.

I turned that off for seat. I only have that on for steering wheel. I dont like the seat to keep moving backward and forward. Mechanism will wear out faster and it isn't cheap to fix!

I agree about unnecessary mechanical wear and tear being costly. But I’m more concerned about the wear and tear on my new left knee!

My hip gives me pain once in awhile and the easy access feature lets me ease in and out without pain. I would much rather replace the seat mechanism than my hip. Without this feature I would be making these adjustments each and every entry/exit.

OTOH, the rear shade going up and down every time I put it in reverse was pretty much a distraction and unwanted wear so I had the dealership adjust the setting so it stays up. I appreciate how this car can be personalized like that.

By the way you don't need a dealer to do that, you can do it yourself in the menus of the car

[edit] Seems I am wrong, I can't find it anymore. I must have done it through the OBD.

I am really sorry to hear that. Hope your knee is OK!
Guide on how to do it has already been posted.
I think the vehicle should be stationary as well in order to get into that particular setting. So don't attempt to set it while driving.

It will probably be less costly to replace the knee again than the seat mechanism

Nothing in the manual and can't find it in settings so I called the dealership and am waiting on a call back. I may want to turn this option back on at some point if I'm able. Thank you for your help.

Edit: to save others' time here is a link which indicates the auto down rear sunshade feature is programmable by dealer.

I’ve had my left knee replaced. Trust me - you would much rather replace the seat mechanism.

You are right, I can't find it anymore.
Maybe it's something I did through the OBD with an APP.

Eureka! Your excellent responses led me to the simple solution: I had memory position #1 (and key fob) set up for my 6’ frame - the linear position was too close to the rearmost end limit. Reset it forward by a quarter inch and - bingo - works every time now.
Not an appreciable difference in exiting/entering ergonomics, just a fun (cool) option to passively utilize. Thanks, everyone for your gracious advice!

OMG, they wouldn't build the seats to go back and forth if there was going to be a long term issue. My son is a certified lexus mechanic. USE THE CAR LIKE YOU ARE GONNA KEEP IT FOREVER. 99.5% you will have no issues.

I had a MB for 7 years. I hated the ENGINE AUTO Stop at a red light. I asked my son, won't that have more wear and tear on the engine? NOPE. Car is build for that kind of abuse . WILL NOT MAKE THE CAR FAIL IN A SHORTER PERIOD OF TIME

It is simple physics. It will wear out the bearings faster.
