Default Ikon GPS System

My dealer offers the Ikon GPS tracking system. I've read a lot of good things about it but the one thing that worries me is they install it right on top of the battery.

I think it's way too obviously located & can be easily disabled. Thoughts? Can it be installed somewhere less obvious?

Thanx

I don't know anything about this device, but I would think that it would send you a notice if it were disconnected from its power source.
My home security system does that, and it's 25 years old.

You might want to closely evaluate the features the consumer Ikon Connect has with the features provided by Lexus's Remote Connect, Service Connect, and Safety Connect.

Are the extra features Ikon Connect offers (i.e., speed alerts, geofencing, and battery alerts) actually going to be used and have enough value added to justify to your satisfaction the one time cost of the system?
(While the Lexus app and Remote Connect does have some support for guest driver speed alert and area and distance quasi geofencing it looks to me like the Ikon Connect supports quite a few more capable features in those areas.)

Consider the common features of Lexus Connected Services and Ikon Connect are "free" during the trial periods of Lexus Connected Services (presently 3 years for Remote Connect and 10 years for Service Connect and Safety Connect) and if you don't want to incur the Lexus subscription fees after the trial periods expire you can always add the Ikon system when one or more of the "free" trial periods expire.

The Lexus app has a crappy GPS system - it only tells you where it was parked last. If someone steals it from my driveway the next alert won’t be sent until it is parked again which could be hundreds of miles away!

My last two Tacomas had the Apex system & I liked it a lot. I never found where they had that system hidden but it sure wasn’t on top of the battery!

If you report the car as stolen, Lexus will tell the police where it is at that moment, assist them from that point on.
This is not the same as as "find my iPhone," and, as noted above, not as current as the "show me where I parked it" feature, but what are you going to do if you see that your stolen car is two states away heading south?
