Hi everyone. New to the club and first time posting!
I was to some research on complaints of the ES when I stumbled on this thread. So since it was on my mind, I noticed in the parking lot of my local Costco and exact (a year or two older) car like mine. They parked in the spot directly in front of me. I immediately noticed that the triple beam LEDs were different shapes. So maybe the entire housing got updated? Hopefully they address any possible issues with condensation. Those within the control of Lexus obviously.
Just some food for thought hope you guys have a good day.
I have a 19 with the triple beams and one has had moisture for I don't know how long. No issue yet with functionality. I see plenty of used units on ebay which is the way I'll go if it fails. It's one of those options I didn't want because of this risk but I couldn't find the car I wanted at the time sans triple beams. I did however avoid the AVS which can present another expensive repair.
I have ~38k miles on my 2019 that I bought new in 02/19. Had it in for annual service last month and elected to have the dealer wash the car at end of service. Several days later I noticed condensation in the passenger side headlight assembly. I took pictures and sent them to the service manager, obviously I wasn’t too happy - knew they were expensive! I had no real claim that they had had caused it, it had been several days (no rain) and the seal could have just failed prior? I normally hand wash the car in the summer months, but in the winter I do take it to local car wash that I like - I have no evidence that the dealer wash is any different. But, I made it clear this had never happened before. He asked me to bring it in for a no-charge diagnosis. We went back and forth a couple times, I wasn’t planning on spending ~$4k to get it replaced and didn’t want the front of my car disassembled for no good reason. He told me he would try and get it covered under warranty, but needed to do the diagnosis first. I believe they wanted to confirm the car had never been in a front-end collision…
I had used a heat lamp (at a safe distance) for a couple days total and was able to dry out the light; however there were streaks on the inside of the lens. I also ran some water over it with the hose (no strong pressure) after I dried it out and no subsequent sign of moisture inside.
They wanted the car for several days, so we arranged a time. Interestingly, they gave me a brand new (less than 1500 miles) 2025 ES for a loaner - nice car! They ended up replacing it under warranty - although my warranty had obviously expired and I did not have any extended warranty coverage. He told me they completed their diagnosis without having to remove the front bumper - which I think confirms they just wanted to look for signs of front-end collision/repairs. They had the assembly in stock at the dealership and I got it back in 3 days.
I was pretty impressed and appreciative! They never claimed any responsibility for the car wash; or known faulty seals. He said it was because it was low mileage car, in pristine condition and that I have kept current with all maintenance (at the dealership?). I’m guessing just a good will move on their part? Clearly, if they hadn’t done anything, I was questioning whether I’d buy another Lexus? On the other hand, since they did willingly step up, I’m pretty sure I will!
Interestingly, at one point, one of the other service managers there commented that the headlight assemblies and the engines are two of the most expensive parts on the car.
