Air Bag Light Recall
Tried to find existing thread on this but couldn’t. My apologies.
In any event, I called my Lexus dealer to see if I could get my passenger airbag status light recall notice taken care of. They said Lexus will NOT replace the light or switch or whatever if it is that is sometimes malfunctioning unless/until yours is presently, actually malfunctioning. Mine is not malfunctioning. I thought maybe they would replace all the relevant parts preemptively. But this dealer in Naples FL says nope. Not until a malfunction actually occurs.
There was some forum uncertainty and speculation on that question when the notices were initially received. This appears to be the answer unless the young lady who handled my call didn’t have the right information. These days, that wouldn’t surprise me.

The thread was Latest Lexus Recall.
Hmm... "my passenger airbag status light recall notice" ... If anyone "didn't have the right information" it was you and not the "young lady" who was probably perplexed about what the old duffer on the line was blabbering about.
That said, none of us in the general public peanut gallery really know what Toyota/Lexus is going to do in regards to recall procedures to find the "bad" sensors and if found what the remedy might be.
In fact, in looking over the document bundle for NHTSA SAFETY ISSUE ID 23V865000 the SAFETY RECALL 23LA03 (Interim Notice 23LB03) sent to Lexus dealers:
So, no matter how much you or anyone else pesters dealers about this recall, they'll be just as much in the dark as you as to the recall details until such time as Toyota/Lexus finalizes a NHTSA approved remedy and distributes it to the dealers.
For those of you who wish to know more about what what's the actual part and the defect the recall is all about, see the Miscellaneous Document - Part 573 Defect Information Report included in the document bundle. If one reads over the defect report, there's really no general user obvious means of determining whether or not a vehicle was manufactured with a defective part until at least the defect progresses over time to point where the part actually fails. In other words, all those adhoc "put an adult in the passenger seat" tests some people did are useless in determining if your vehicle has a defective sensor part. (At best, all it may determine is at that INSTANT OF TIME the sensor part, defective or not, hasn't yet failed.)
In the "Frequently Asked Questions" section of the above linked interim notice, there's this Q &A on what condition may indicate a failed defective part and what to do if that condition occurs before the yet-to-be-finalized recall remedy has been performed on a recall catgory vehicle:

At this time, Lexus estimates the remedy can be available in Quarter 3, 2024, but this is subject to change based on parts availability.

Q2: Are there any warnings that this condition exists?
A2: Yes, the SRS warning light and the “Passenger Airbag OFF” light will be illuminated, and a multi-information display message will be displayed.
Q2a: What should I do if my vehicle exhibits this condition before a remedy is made available?
A2a: If your vehicle’s SRS light is illuminated, have your vehicle inspected and repaired by an authorized Lexus dealer. The SRS warning light may illuminate reasons other than the condition described above.

Whoa, calm down and take a deep breath, my friend. You’re way too intense.
Thanks for your clarifications. I’ll wait and see how things unfold.
i’m simply telling you what she, as the service department representative, unequivocally told me what Lexus policy on this recall if. No new sensor unless the car’s existing sensor is malfunctioning. People have the right to relay on this agent’s clear statement of the status of the matter.
First time I called—-not at all pestering them.
Just calm down, fellah…

First time I saw the production period spelled out. The 2020 ES300h is only affected after June 2020 production. For those affected details will come in February of procedures for the fix. You can never be overly cautious when safety is a concern.
I do believe, based on other recalls and similar repairs, the vehicle must be showing active symptoms. So, in a way, let's hope you have symptoms when Lexus has a fix ready to go. Preemptive makes sense to me as well. That's not the protocol.
