Split Screen 2024 ES 350
Does anyone know how to get the massive 12.3 display to do split screen with NAV plus audio side to side? I just traded in 2019 BMW 530 that had that standard and am shocked that this doesn't have that ability. I could have Carplay on 2/3 of the screen and the right 1/3 showed audio. Plus in Carplay everytime I use the dial to turn stations it takes me out of Carplay back to the media menu to see the Sirius station. The only way to stay in Carplay is to use the steering wheel buttons and cycle through favorites. Not flexible. Am i missing something?
Lexus has never been good with tech like that, not in the same league as BMW. You can't split screen anymore, but you could on the only clunky software pre-'23. Lexus is like a decade behind BMW, if not more, when it comes to UI tech.
My 22 ES350 UL does a split screen, but when Lexus upgraded their system in the ES (using what was first seen in the NX and now the RX as we'll) for some reason they omitted the ability to split in the new OS. Who knows why but it has garnered many negative comments in automotive reviews I've seen/read. Hopefully they'll listen to criticism and revise the system to again provide that ability.
This is not to excuse the lack of the split screen, but I feel like many of the eccentricities of the new system arise from the idea that the voice activation should be a fundamental part of the interaction. Once you're using voice commands to switch screens and change audio, I dont think it really needs split screen.

Could not disagree more. First, I have tried to use the voice commands several times and about 75% of the time it has no idea what I wanted. Second, the clock is by far the most ridiculous thing … small numbers on dash and disappears from large screen in certain modes. Would really like a window for a clock and also a section for a compass. The compass goes away in certain modes - specially with a HUD and when turn by turn directions show up.
The radio interface is by far the craziest thing I have seen. Overlapping entries (the select
box) and a massive display takes up the song you are listening to. In addition, favorites are one big list as opposed to being tied to Sirus,’FM, and AM.
As a software engineer the UI is always something that gets scrutinized. The screen on the RX is so big, creating virtual spaces is a no brainer.
I would suggest the job the UI out to Apple ! Lexus could easily write all the applications that feed screens and the screens just scale the output depending on the size. Think - iPhone and iPads … many different sizes as well as horizontal and vertical orientations and everything works exactly the same on all devices.
lexus … please pleas deliver us a new UI.
Life's pleasures are worth far more than making people less clueless.

I haven't been able to figure out how to split the screen. There are two smaller screens when in Android Auto other than the mandated maps screen. One is set to Youtube Music which I don;t have and the other is a "for you" which is bland and can't be adjusted. I've spoken with customer service, service departments, and sales people.. I was told that the question is too complicated for telephone support, don't know why, and that I have to go back to the dealer for an additional training on the car (only 3 days old). Will post back again after the training which we all know will be futile.

With the new system there is no split screen (absurd). Found that out when looked at new 2023 RX and then noticed new ES same way. You can use a dongle to get that function back. When I test drove the RX I tried my carlink Tbox plus and was able to get up to 3 screens and my current 2020 ES I get 2. Lexus wants you to use voice more to change screens but a quick glance at 2 screens would be ideal especially with that large RX screen. It is what it is. Reliability is what is keeping me with Lexus.

Love that split screen on my 2021. Glad I now know it’s no longer available.
Yet one MORE reason to keep my 2021 ES 350! List keeps growing!

I tried so hard to like the new RX350h but there were many things I liked that were taken away. Last few days was trying again and looking at the 450h+ and found out there was no spare tire. The list does keep growing. My 2020 ES300h UL basic warranty is now out and why I am looking to change to not have to worry about repairs.
You guys need to just learn to use the voice UI. Don't be like your parents asking you for help to send an email or fix their wifi. This business with relying on split screen is like not understanding how to change the channel on the remote control.
Also, needing to see the audio UI at all times is just bizarre.
