2022 ES Quality Issues
@dezymond I recommend skipping the gaffer tape for the armrest and going straight to foam. The gaffer tape kinda-sorta worked for a while but it didn't last. 3/8" x 3/16" foam tape was a proper fix, much more cushion.
I gotta figure out the leather piece above the instrument cluster.
I had some issues with my 2019 Lux model. The seal from the panoramic glass roof had problems, which led to increased road noise inside the cabin, especially around 1000 miles. It took three visits to the service department, but Lexus finally replaced it after bringing in a specialist, and that resolved the issue. I noticed that panoramic glass roofs tend to allow more noise inside the cabin, especially in cold climates with ice and snow. Although the difference wasn't significant, it was noticeable. That's why I chose to have the standard moonroof instead for my special order 22 UL model.
Here are some drawbacks of having a panoramic glass roof:
- More heat can enter the vehicle during the day.
- There's less headroom available with this type of glass roof.
- It adds more weight to the roof of the vehicle.
- It can create more noise and complexity in your car.
- Driving in the rain can be much louder.
- Condensation may collect on the glass during colder months.
- It could potentially reduce the structural integrity of the vehicle.
The only other issue to mention - sometimes there are brief hesitations when accelerating at lower speeds. I have experienced this issue on both my 2019 Lux and 2022 UL. It has been discussed in other threads with varying descriptions, but it all boils down to the same problem.

I can't imagine why anyone would even take a chance on buying a Tesla. Every time I read about Tesla it's a recall, one caught on fire, an auto drive ran over someone and killed them, or some other negative story. I will say this regarding my Lexus 350: The quality between my 2013 made in Japan was better than my 2019 made in Kentucky. Panel misalignment is my only complaint other than the lousy 8 speed tranny on the UL '19. I had no issues at all with the '13, found the 6 speed tranny perfect but wanted the new updated safety features on the '19. There is NO car that comes off the assembly line at 100% defect free and that includes Lexus. Neither of these two 350's had/have rattle issue, creaks, cracks, or anything else.
Always get a chuckle when I see a Tesla Model Y or 3 with the black or silver plastic wheel covers. A luxury vehicle really. The last time I saw plastic wheel covers was my first car parents 1971 Ford Pinto I bought from them.
I bought a 2022 ES300h UL a year ago. To date, the rear subwoofer went out, the rear power sunshade snapped and one side will not go up and numerous rattles have developed. The subwoofer was replace under warranty, the sunshade will be fixed under warranty and I'm learning to live with the rattles. I traded in a 2012 Camry EXL hybrid for the Lexus. Nothing on the Camry ever had to be repaired and the only time I drove it to the dealer in 10 years was for routine maintenance. After dropping $55k on a car that's needed repairs twice, doesn't ride all that well, and has way too many rattles, I'm starting to get a bad case of buyer's remorse. Is my experience the new normal for newer Lexus vehicles or is my situation an anomaly? TIA for any thoughts.
