Default Question about outside door mirrors

I have a 2016 ES300H I want the auto power mirror feature. Will GS mirror fit mounting wise?

I don't think the GS mirror would be an exact replacement on an ES and if it did fit you would still have a challenge with the electronics. I kind of think the ES sold in some other countries does offer folding mirrors and has been discussed here in the past. That might be a better route for you to take. The problem will still be does a US ES have the electronics already in place.

I've often thought folding mirrors would be nice and hopefully the next generation will offer them although since they charged me $400 for a power opening trunk (which I really like) I hate to think what they might charge for folding mirrors.

I guess it depends on the individual, but I don't see need for folding side mirrors. It is cool thing to have, but I was never in a situation where I felt that I need to fold my mirrors.

I wish that the current gen 6 ES had folding mirrors. Hopefully the '19 will be equipped with them which I plan to buy. However I think that it would be prohibitive financially to first obtain them from a foreign parts supplier, then try to install them in a U.S. edition Lexus ES which probably does not have the electronics installed..

Update: I checked Ebay and there is a seller that has several used power folding mirrors for sale at this link. Says that they will fit a 2016 ES.

When I went to Lexus for my 40K maintenance (2014 ES 350 UL) I specifically asked what it would cost to install folding mirrors since some ESs have them (not in the US, unfortunately). But I said, "I don't care the cost, I'd like to get them installed" to see if that would help spur an answer. So the guy investigated and later called back and said folding mirrors could not be installed on my car because the electronics are not in place. Not just the mirror harness and wiring but also the wiring for the button on the dash (lower-left).

I've seen the cars at work in the parking lot with folded mirrors and when I have to walk between a bunch of cars I can see it makes a good difference--perhaps 3" less on each side. So there is a "small need". I could also see if you pull up to a drive-thru of any kind, if you could push da button and fold your mirrors so you could get closer to the server handing out stuff, that'd be nice, too.

I agree with you that they would be useful. Hopefully Lexus will see the light and at least make them available on future models. I didn't think that Lexus would include the wiring if they weren't even available on U.S. models. Thanks for confirming that.

You're not a fan of folding them manually?
