Real-life MPG

How has your reliability been? You're a great person to ask, having owned it for 9 years since new and having put over 200k miles on it. That's really valuable information, especially considering the fact that most people don't keep theirs for that long from new, or don't have it from new if they have had it for that long (or not even that long) — at least on here and on Reddit. Your experience would be extremely holistic, considering you've owned it from new, and for the years and miles.

Never taken it back to the dealer for any 30k, 60k, 100k, checks at all. Never changed the trans. fluid, brake fluid or any fluid!! Best car I have ever known, hence the reason I have just purchased a new 2017 ES 350.

Also just as a note, I've never put my car in Eco mode before, but I do use the eco display (the blue thing above the little digital display). And my 27.3 includes a bit of city driving.

i have not done one thing to this car other than normal maintenance. I.e. Oil changes, tires, brakes, etc.

Been tracking my car on fuelly since I bought it 2 plus years ago (2015). Converting to US gallons, the average over that entire time period has been
27.5 Avg MPG
28.4 Last MPG
35.7 All time Best
Metric results (which since I live in Canada is what I use) are this:
8.6 Avg L/100km
8.3Last L/100km
6.6 L/100Km all time best.

2014 Es 350. All interstate, 75-85 mph. Just drove 1600 miles from Canada to California, car calculated 26 mpg, Actual calculation, based on receipts and mileage came out to 23mpg. Is this normal to get different results?

I think that 23 mpg for a 1600 mile highway trip seems a bit low. Granted if you're driving up to 85 mpg you're going to burn more fuel at a higher rate... I know on long highway trips I'll avg about 75 mph and will get anywhere from 30 to 32.5 mpg..

Wife and I just returned from a 3200 mile trip in my '14 ES 350 and it made 30 mpg for the entire trip (calculated). Mostly interstate driving 75-80 mph. Individual fill ups varied 3-4 mpg depending on cold temps, headwinds, refueling shutoff, etc. Tire pressures were at 34 psi cold for this trip.
Was your car fully loaded or not so much? What tires and air pressure are you running? Mileage can drop dramatically when running at higher speeds.

Was very cold (~0F) for first half of trip, fully loaded. Tire PSI 33 cold. Interstate 75-85 mph.
Seems I had these things working against better mpg.
Still wondering why dash reading of mpg differed from calculated.
Thx.

My experience is that my 2015 ES350's display is very close to calculated, usually within 1/2 mpg or right on. My 2013 ES300h on the other hand is always off. It displays anywhere from 1 to 2 mpg higher than calculated.

How did you calculate using the dash? Far as I know you can't set it for 3 trips (or can you). You would have to weight the length of each trip.

I wonder if the difference is the hybrid rather than the age? Our 2015 ES300h generally shows 1 to 2 MPG higher than actual. On rare occasion it can be right on.
