Need to change oil myself 2013 ES300H
All, we have a 2013 ES300H, we do all our own maintenance. Or we have in the past on our previous vehicles anyway! Hope to continue with that. Does anyone know how to change the oil in this vehicle? Thanks.......

The car takes a filter cartridge available by all major filter manufacturers or Lexus. There's two ways to remove the filter cartridge holder. With the cartridge comes a short hose that can be placed into the bottom of the holder after removing a small insert with a 3/8" socket wrench. This allows the holder to drain. The other way is to simply remove the entire holder with either a filter wrench or a cup type wrench that fits over the bottom of the holder. You do not need a special tool. After draining the filter it's oil change 101 - replace the cartridge, replace the cartridge holder, drain the crankcase, button it up, refill the oil and you're finished. If you search youtube there are videos.

Can't find any ES300H specific you tube videos but did make some progress today, on page 830 (WOW that is a lot of owners manual!) it shows the hybrid model takes 4.6 quarts / 4.4 liters of 0W-20 oil.
And page 658 has instructions on how to reset the service indicator.....

oil filter
As the service interval is 1 year for oil change with full synthetic, does one need to get an extended life oil filter? If an OEM is not available, what else works?

There are numerous opinions as to the "best" filter to use on your Lexus. I use the Extraguard Fram which is the best in the Fram line. I found, at my first oil change, that the oil, even after one year, was so clean that I had difficulty reading it on the dipstick. Other members may recommend another brand. I've never used an OEM filter.

I have always worried that if one does the oil change oneself and something goes wrong with the engine during the warranty period the dealers will have an excuse not to honor the warranty.
Is it not better to swallow the bullet and get the oil change at least done by the dealer through the warranty period?
I remember years ago we had a Camry and always took it to the dealer for oil changes. At 62k miles (2k after the warranty expiration) one of the valve seals failed and the car started billowing smoke. The dealer looked at our oil change history and replaced the seals at no charge. Even made the point of telling me he was doing that because he did all the maintenance and could not fault us.

I would recommend the WIX XP version of the filter, the filtration media is specifically engineered to work with synthetic oil.
