Default Trunk off alignment when closed

A friend of mine overstuffed my trunk and slammed it so hard that now it is hard to close and off alignment. Obviously something inside was bent and Lexus wants to change me $220 just to look at it. Any ideas?

Well, the price of everything has gone up. Car dealers rates have gone way up. They might fix it for that, or it could be lots more. You could check with some independent body shops. But they are in the accident repair business. Looking for fast money.
Inspecting, tweaking, ordering parts and then fixing takes time. You’ll have to decide if you want it fixed, or just live with it. These are $40-50,000 cars at a minimum, a $220 inspection is .44% of the cost of the vehicle. Does your friend know what he did?

I would bet that it's one of the hinges. I'm a DIY person and would try to adjust or fix it myself. If you're not, then onto someone else with the knowledge.

So the left side is fine. The right side is bent. Seems like one of the bars is bent up towards the top of the trunk, and the hinge on the right is also bent up and almost touching the edge of the trunk. I think I can just try to bend it back in to place?

Do you have equipment to straighten them out? If not, its better to take it to a body shop for them to straighten it out. Don't bother with the Lexus dealer, they are not equipped to fix things like this, all they will do is order replacement parts to replace the bent/damaged items - a last resort but very costly.
