Default Heating and Air in my ES300H

I noticed in my es that when it's warm outside it appears when you want to warm up because maybe it's getting chilly outside when the sun is falling, you have to crank the temp up to like 77 -79 to get the heat going compared to when it's cold outside I can warm up at 71-73. Is there a reason for that? Is there a feature I may be overlooking??

Also wondering if gas prices have an affect on the trade in value of the ES300h? Seems like when gas prices are up the value is up and when the prices are down, so is the value of this vehicle.
