Default oil filter cap won't come off

I am doing my 30,000 mile oil change on my 2016 ES350. In the past I have had no trouble removing the screw on cap to drain the oil filter. This time I could not remove it. It came off with the oil filter housing which I put loosely in a vice to hold it while I tried to remove the cap. I still could not separate the screw on cap from the oil filter housing. I am sure I oiled both rubber gaskets at the last oil and filter change. Any suggestions?

This is actually not uncommon issue with the filter housing cap. But you don't have to remove the cap just remove the filter housing change the oil filter and screw it back in. I don't remove the cap anymore.
