The trunk can be opened at all times just by pressing the trunk latch button. The fobs were over 100 ft out of range of the car and it opened just by pressing the button. The trunk will not open when I lock it with the valet switch in the glove box. Basically, the trunk is unlocked unless I use the valet lock feature.
Not sure what I am missing. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Are you saying that the trunk can be opened without proximity to the fob when the car doors are also locked?

If the doors are not locked, you should be able to open the trunk regardless of whether there is proximity to the fob.

Holy crap. I never tried that option. That was the issue, the doors were unlocked. I feel like a moron. Thank you for the help.

Don't beat yourself up on this honest mistake...I had the exact same issue for two years before I asked a dealership buddy of mine who clued me in and I've felt silly ever since. Good to see I'm not alone on this one.
