Please be more specific: Is it the oil change light to be reset or maybe the "check engine" light? Let us know which indicator is lit. If "check engine" then a code has been set for a malfunction with the car. You'd have to find out what the code is to correct it...
It is the check engine light. I had a loose gas cap so now I need to know how to reset the indicator to the light won't remain on.
If the loose gas cap was, in fact, the cause of the check engine light going on, the check engine light will go off by itself eventually. The car's computer is programmed to check for faults on a pre-determined schedule. The next time that it checks for emissions problems, it should re-set and turn the light off. That could happen almost immediately, or it could take driving some distance before it happens
If you want to get it to turn off immediately, stop at one of the auto parts stores and ask them to borrow their code scanner. Take the scanner out to the parking lot and hook it up to the car's OBD II port. When it scans for codes, it will also give you the option to clear the error code.
