Default wrecked my es

Not a good day for me... was running some errands Thursday afternoon and was involved in a low speed fender bender... The damage to my vehicle doesn't appear to be too bad.. Front fenders / hood / door gaps all appear fine but pretty sure the entire front clip will be replaced.. I had just come off the highway and was sitting in traffic waiting to catch a break in traffic so we could pull onto the main street... car in front of me took off and just as I looked back over my left shoulder to make sure there was room for me as well, the guy in front of me changed his mind and stopped.... Kind of irritated me cause he took off to pull into the flow of traffic then just decided to stop for some reason, when he had plenty of room... glad the air bag didn't deploy... as you can see from the pics, damage is not bad on my car... he was driving a 2010 altima and now has a dent in his rear bumper.. Dropping mine off at the body shop Friday.. hopefully I'll haveit back in a week or two...

Sorry to hear this news. I'm glad the accident was just minor and no one was injured, though. It's hard for me to look at this, since mine is the same color, but the damage appears minimal. I hope they're able to match the paint. Please keep us posted.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

Make sure that you have the repair work done by shop with a good reputation. Metallic reds can be tricky to work with. Any minor differences with regard to the paint formula and even variation in the pressure from the spray gun can result in a noticeable paint mismatch.

Good luck with the repairs.

And don't forget to have the body shop paint the cross bar so that it better matches the color of the grill. The car will appear much more current. The red cross bar makes it look like a 2012 or earlier version.

Off topic, but it looks nothing like a 2012 ES. Painting the cross bar a different color may actually hurt resale value.

>Off topic,

Perhaps, but there have been many, many, postings to this group about making the cross bar color match the grill to bring the front end's appearance more into line with the current styling.
Just say'n, that's all

OP learned a lesson the hard way.

Never assume the guy in front of you is gone, just because he started to move.

Glad for you no one was injured. It's a big pain in the rear to deal with this stuff, but it's good no further damage occurred.

Don't want to sound stupid here, but what exactly did you mean by the 'crossbar"... I'm taking my car to the body shop either later this afternoon or monday ( depending on when the adjuster calls ) and want to make sure I know what you're referring to so I can discuss it with the body shop... btw, the body shop I'm using belongs to a friend of mine... I've used these guys for the past 30 years... They do great work and I wouldn't take my car anywhere else.

It sounds as if you have frequent need for body work.

You are likely correct in that assessment. Not only are there a good number of people, including me, who prefer the 2013-2015 grille design over that on the 2016 and 2017 ES, but, in general, used car buyers want to buy a car that looks the same as it was when it came from the factory, and many are less likely to buy used cars whose appearance has been changed by the previous owners. Thus, there is less demand for modded used cars, which, in turn, reduces their re-sale or trade-in value.

13-15 grill looks so un classy and cheap compared to the 16 grill that's for sure.

I find it remarkable that you can state that as if it was a fact and do so with seemingly no recognition of the fact that it is your opinion and that others might have an equally well-reasoned opinion that differs from yours.
