Hello guys i wanted to see if anyone has previously removed their radio head unit I just bought a Beat Sonic AVC38 and a Mirabox Car Wifi Mirrorlink in hopes of being able to mirror what on my phone to the Nav Unit.
Attempted to remove the radio unit and just loosened the two bottom bolts but the radio unit would not budge did not want to damage any components so placed everything back in place.
Any tips on removal?
Assuming you have a 2016 or similar Lexus ES 350...
You missed two bolts at the top. (4 bolts hold OEM radio)
Look up installation video for Beat-Sonic NDS6223EP for your ES 300h/350 on YouTube. The video will show you the 4 bolts that hold the unit in place. Video won't take you long at all.
Richard thank you for your post I was able to find the video shows exactly how to remove the unit.
I would be performing the mod this weekend ill do a post on how it went.
Also thanks for your earlier post on the nav bypass thanks to your post I was able to run into this mod.
*Humble Bow* Thank you for your encouraging feedback. This forum is great for people like us. All kinds of cool posts here, with nice people that are helpful. While I discovered my bypass module independently, I did manage to get a discount using CL.com group buy.
Ok so I was able to do the install today and was very pleased with the AVC38 adapter cable I bought from beat sonic as soon as I installed the wiring performed a quick check with a old DVD system hooked up to the new AVC wire going into the radio unit. The nav unit recognized there was a new input and the dvd source was playing beautiful with good picture and good sound. I proceeded to install the Mirabox Car Wifi Mirrorlink which would allow me to mirror what is displayed on my phone to the car. Once I powered the Mirabox and was connected to the AVC38 adapter had a bit difficulty linking my phone Samsung S6 edge to the unit had to download a AMP (Miracast). Was not to impressed by the unit when playing video there would be some freezing and I constantly have to have the phone on to be able to display anything on the Nav unit.
Due to this I have decided to do away with the Mirabox and purchase a Chromecast Unit I currently have one for my television and love the interface with the unit. I am able to play videos or stream media to the unit without my phone having to be ON at all times, as long as the chromecast has an internet source in this case would be tethering from my phone. Though for me to be able to adapt the chromecast to the AVC38 I must also install a adapter was able to find (Tendak 1080P HDMI to AV 3RCA CVBs Composite Video Audio Converter Adapter) on Amazon.
Waiting on parts to finish the install.
Thanks for the update. Sounds like the AVC38 worked well. The Mriabox Mirrorlink sounds like it fell short. Thanks for the info. Hopefully the info will help someone make an informed decision in the future.
Chromecast huh? That sounds pretty cool. Did the Tendak arrive yet?
OK so I finally get the package in today and was able to jerry rig the thing, good video great audio works perfect.
Unfortunate failed to relies that if my parking brake is not set my picture wont show. I need to see how I could bypass this system perhaps with the beat sonic dvd and nav in motion harness may do the trick I have to give them a call tomorrow and ask if they know.
Richard in your last post I saw you were having issues in getting the dvd and nav in motion to work, were you able to fix the issue did the harness work well for you?
My impression with the aftermarket A/V stuff we've been using has been lukewarm. These things tend to get the job done, but not always "as advertised." Know what I mean?
Hello Richard,
I just recieved the part yesterday, most likely going to wait until the weekend to do the install. Rather take my time ans do a good job than rush it befote having to come into work. But so far the avc38 cable connected to the chromecast works beautiful i cast youtube songs/video's to the nav unit and have not noticed any mayor issues. Had to buy a noise filter from amazon noticed when there was no audio input to the system there would be a bit of static but the filter took care of that issue right away. The build has been more than i originally expected but i am quite positive i will enjoy the outcome.
I'll try to take pictures of the build and parts and post it onces i am done.
