I am getting close on a 2016 purchase. Been a long haul for me. Anyhow, from what I can tell the next map update will come out in the "Fall" Does anyone have specifics on when it will come out? Either based on knowledge for 2016 or based on past updates? I am looking at a car that is 4 days off the truck and am guessing at this point it has a map ver that is about a year old. With the 2016, does it have to go to the dealer to do the update? Thanks!

 

Usually the map updates are done in October. The car you're considering, most likely has a map that is at least one year old. If I were buying this car I would make sure
- in writing - that part of the deal includes a free update. Otherwise you'll be stuck with the existing database now in the car. I bought my car in September of 2012. The map was from 2011. I insisted that I get the next map update free as part of the sale (deal). Lexus had some sort of issue that fall - 2012 - and couldn't issue an update to the cars then being built. They subsequently issued a map update in February of 2013, along with an apology to their customers. So, theoretically, the next update should be sometime in October of this year - 2016.
