ES350 Sun visor slot

ES350 Sun visor slot
When you pull down the driver's sun visor there is a slot on the top side, does this have a function other than holding some car identification paper work..title, proof of insurance, etc?

I use it for holding parking-lot "toll" cards. Upon leaving it's an easy reach to feed the card reader upon exit.
