Ambient Lighting Installation
At first I unscrewed the entire screws of the trim piece located at driver’s door, but then I figured out that you can simply allocate the opening and try to push or slide the light bar in an angular way back and forth slowly and like the worm motion, until it fits inside the housing.
You might loosen the first couple screws if you couldn’t allocate the opening or if it was hard to push in.
The hard part actually is putting back the door cover back in place, which I figured it’s easier if you tilt it upward and flush with the window line and you should start putting it back starting from the edge closer to the side rear view mirror all the way back. There should be no gaps or bloating in trim when you finish.

The door panel is definitely the worst part about doing this. I HATE dealing with it, it's one of the hardest ones I've ever dealt with.
Sounds good, will likely use the worm method. I just remember when I was trying to figure it out, I was getting annoyed with unscrewing the millions of screws holding the trim piece in lol.
If you go to the app and press on the little settings icon in the top right there is a option for welcome and cancel welcome that should turn off that boot up animation or as some would like to say ‘welcome’

Here's a quick video I recorded. Still haven't found the time to do the door panels, but I added another strip for the trim near the heated/cooled seat controls. I'll be posting a full video with it later on, I just have to find the confidence and time to pull off the doors lol.
This video shows the boot-up process from when you turn on the car. I haven't found a way to turn off that whole "boot animation". I don't think there is, but I honestly don't mind it either.

funny this just came up in my inbox. For another project (upgraded mirror turn signals with a DRL light
running the wire isn’t that bad but may be tough for ppl with big hands working in the door hinge area. I recommend removing the door speaker, and disconnecting the wire harness from the door seated in the lock panel so you can maneuver the rubber grommet/boot to get a wire through (definitely unplug your battery since there is an airbag related plug on the driver side).

Thanks for the video! This video was quite informative about which wires were hot and which ones were not. I haven't tested the blue wire on that harness, that's honestly my last hope. I was thinking about hooking up 12v accessory from the driver side fuse box through the door jamb and into the driver's door.
I read that some cars (mainly American) have a molex connector in the rubber sleeve in the door jambs. Is it there on the 6ES? I haven't had time to check it out for myself yet. If there is a molex connector blocking it, I'm quite hesitant to run wires from the fuse box into the door panel, since I don't want to risk messing with the factory harnesses and rubber seals.

so that blue wire was part of the upgraded mirror signal so you won’t have that from your car or ambient lighting kit
There is no molex

like I said definitely unplug the battery and disconnect the doors harness from the kick panel (unplug battery because that yellow connector in the video below is airbag related, only on driver side)
this video may also help

Sorry, I meant the blue wire on the window harness, not the one you were holding.
THANK GOD THERE IS NO MOLEX CONNECTOR. I might be able to pull this off then.
I remember disconnecting that yellow plug on the door panel, I think there are some tabs on the sides of the yellow plug. Maybe you have to press those.
You have no idea how much this made my day. Hopefully I can get this done by the weekend!
