Default TMPS light on so went to Costco to replace...

...all 5 transmitters. They program it and 5 minutes later the TMPS light is back on again. They program it 2 more time to no avail and swear they have never seen this and I need to take it to Lexus. Ugh. Will they even look at it now that I have after market sensors in there?

Anyway, has anyone heard of this before? What to do about it?

Thanks in advance!

What do you mean by reprogramming it. I believe you need to manually read in each sensor serial number in each wheel to the TPM module . The dealer should have the equipment to do this. If that is what they did and you still get the light then you may have a problem with the module. The dealer can test for this. Let us know what you find out.

That is strange. I just had all 4 TPMS sensors replaced at Costco on my 2011 HS250 and initially they told me to drive around with the new ones (Schrader brand) and see if it reset itself. It did not, so I returned and just pulled up to the service bay where a tech reprogrammed them to the car.
He hooked his machine to the diagnostic port on the dash, then read each sensor, then hooked it up again and read or programmed each sensor. I am not sure of the exact sequence.
It took him 5 minutes while I watched. Everything has been fine with the TPMS since then.

Have him tell you which one is defective. They can tell right away which sensor isnt sending a signal. It is possible one is defective right out of the box and so just change that one.

if all five are sending signals and the light is on then that is really weird but i doubt it. my guess is at least one is still defective. when my costco guy did it i followed and watched him do it and he told me right away which one wasnt sending a signal and all i did was replace that one and it worked.

also i brought in my own tpms sensors from amazon because my local costco never carried the one for our car. it should be denso brand.

reprogram/register to the computer? I also performed the reset with the button under the steering column and checked the snow tire button under the glove box. They installed Dill 7002A sensors. <y wife will be driving it on a longer drive today maybe it will go out then but I am surprised that Costco did not tell her it needs to be drive for a while.

Unfortunately as I understand it Lexus requires each sensor to be programmed into the tire pressure module . You need to read in the serial number of each sensor and locate it in the system meaning identifying the wheel location of each sensor. If the serial numbers don't match what is in the TPM module it will trigger the fault . Any tire dealer should be able to do this.

Seems odd that Costco who sold these to me could not do this. I did call another Costco and they said they would give it a go. He also gave me a tidbit more information. Apparently, before 9/1 2007 and older the TMPS was not required and some of these older systems are not so well supported by Dill and may have issues. But he said bring it by and we'll look at it, try to fix it then we'll talk about options if they can't make it work. I'll bring it to them Sunday I think.

If it worked before and it didn't after they replaced them then they didn't do something right. Was the light on before they replaced the sensors.

Right so So I just called Dill the mfr. of these units that Costco sells this morning. Yes Costco did sell me the right model 7002A for my car and to have Costco call them when they have the car and they will walk them through the procedure as they get this question all the time.

Went to Rohnert Park Costco 30 mins form the Novato Costco and they had no trouble syncing up the sensors. TMPS light is out now.
An interesting note that the tech at Rohnert Park told ne was that on occasion the OBD2 port on a few Lexus and Prius had malfunctioned and then those cars needed to be fixed at the dealer (still sounds weird to me) but mine worked. I had told him that my OBD2 reader worked just fine but it did not have TMPS function so maybe that took that excuse off of the table.
