Hi All,
I have a 2011 ES350 Ultra Premium.
I tried looking around for answers but couldn't find any. The rain sensing wipers in my car (with the stalk sensitivity at minimum) are always wiping too fast for any condition. They will go absolutely berserk even with the slightest of rain. Changing the sensitivity from the stalk does not make any difference.
The windscreen is original OEM and hasn't been replaced.
Any thoughts on how to tone down the sensitivity of the sensor?
Thanks!
IIRC there's a sensor behind the rear view mirror attach to the inside of the windshield. It may need replacing or you may simply need to clean the outside of the windshield, where the sensor is.

The area above the sensor is definitely clean...
I wonder if a bad sensor would throw a code or have a warning light?? Would there be any way to test a sensor? (Resistance, voltage etc?)

I have a 2008 PP that I took to the dealer over 11 years ago for this same issue as this was my first car with this feature and I thought the wipers were going to fly off the car! The service advisor rolled his eyes when I stated the problem and naturally nothing was done. Over the years I too have played with the stalk with no real difference and have simply decided to let them go. Eventually they reset and resume normal operation but every now and then it gets crazy.
Check to make sure the sensor is affixed properly to the windshield. It shouldn't be loose and there shouldn't be any air bubbles between it and the windshield.
