Default ES350 sport mode max speed in 4th gear?

I'm new to sport mode. I thought the car would shift automatically, but at higher speeds, to give a more sporty feel.

I drove in 4th at 60-70mph for 10-20m. Is this dangerous for the engine? It's the 2008 model.

Now I know I have to shift up to 5th and 6th manually. But I didn't the day I bought the car.

It’s not dangerous but it is better to lower the rpm a bit.

Thank you very much indeed! Coming from a Lexus Test Driver, that is real piece of mind. Saul

On any car especially an older probably with higher mileage, sprinkle in some known transmission issues, out of warranty to boot, maybe an unknown maintenance record on the transmission if there even is one. Yeah I don’t think it’s a good idea to tempt the devil.
