GPS Indicator Not Showing on Screen
I just bought my 2010 ES 350 from Lexus 2 weeks ago and now I realize that the GPS indicator is not on my navigation screen and I am constantly having to calibrate the navigation.
I called the Lexus service department and they said they would start with a system reset which would cost $50 to $75 and if that didn't work, they would update the system, which will cost $169.
Does anyone have an idea of how to reset the system myself? And is there an easy way to see if the GPS Antenna is plugged in?

Thanks for your reply Othic. I have attached a picture of a normal Nav screen that shows the GPS indicator. Also, I am not sure if the air bags have deployed recently. I just bought the car 2 weeks ago and they have not deployed during that time frame.

sounds like the sys is not receiving the gps signal, manual says this about tinting. re the antenna its a dogs breakfast to check physically I think per these instructions
"When your vehicle is receiving signals from the satellites, the “GPS” mark appears at the top left of the screen. The GPS signal may be physically obstructed, leading to inaccurate vehicle position on the map display. Tunnels, tall buildings, trucks, or even the placement of objects on the instrument panel may obstruct the GPS signals. The GPS satellites may not send signals due to repairs or improvements being made to them. Even when the navigation system is receiving clear GPS signals, the vehicle position may not be shown accurately or inappropriate route guidance may occur in some cases.
NOTICE
The installation of window tinting may obstruct the GPS signals. Most window tinting contains some metallic content that will interfere with GPS signal reception. We advise against the use of window tinting on vehicles equipped with navigation systems."

Thanks for your reply nevernu. The car does not have tinting and the GPS signal does not come on even when I am on wide open streets, which I drive most of the time. And yes, I agree...I am not up for pulling out the dash to check this physically.
Looks like I may need to take this to Lexus to check out.

More than likely the tech forgot to plug in the nav antenna in the back of the radio. They probably did the airbag recall before they sold you the car since Lexus requires all recalls to be done before the car is sold. If that's the case, its a real simple fix. It should take less than 15 mins to fix it.
