2007 ES350 Catalytic converter or Oxygen Sensor
Hi so i was on a road trip drivng home from Ohio to Utah the past few days. and today i got the traction light Engine Light and Ches VSC light on. i drove like 1500 miles since it came on stopped and started the vehicle several times over the 2 days trip filled up gas like 5 times maybe 6 during the trip the light never went out just stayed lit. I had a Autozone check the codes and they told me the it was giving a code of Catalytic Converter and Oxygen Sensor also.
So i am wondering how can both of these go bad at the same time ? It also had a code for a random Missfire.
will a oxygen Sensor or a catalytic converter cause a misfire ?
or will both the Oxygen sensor and the Catalytic converter cause all 3 warning lights to come on and or can a bad cat cause it to show a bad oxygen sensor and or a bad oxygen sensor cause a bad cat code to show ?
Or did it just really get unlucky for me that 2 major things went at the same exact time and now im going ot be out around 1500 to 2000 to fix this ?
F.Y.I Gas Cape is only less than 1 year old. vechile has 167,000 miles on it.

Codes do not actually always identify the defective component, it is not as simple as replace the component related to the code. They provide a place to begin diagnosis and further checking for what caused the code. It is more likely the 02 sensor went bad and has lead to issues with your catalytic converter, that hopefully will be resolved after reset or replacing the 02 sensor. FYI 02 sensors are cheap and catalytic converters are very expensive.
With that high a mileage, you could have a clogged catalytic converter and a bad 02 sensor. Check the output from the exhaust wihile someone revs up the engine. Have you noticed loss of power? That is a sign of a clogged cat.

Ok thank you guys.
i did have the codes pulled one itme and a orielys auto parts in ohio it was just showing Random Misfire and ECM code malfuntion also.
they reset that and then it came back about 300 miles latter and when i checked it near the end of the tirp i had a orielys another one check it and it came back Oxygen Sensor and catalytic converter
also no loose in power
