4th gen ES wheels on 5th gen
Did some searching, couldn't find the answer to this. I'm looking for a second set of rims to setup some winter tires. I found someone selling a set of factory 16" rims from an '04 ES, wondering if they will work on my '07? I know they are only 6.5" wide, but I figure a 215/60-16 should fit on them. Just wondering if anybody has tried this. They're in a junkyard so I can't go try them before I buy.

The issue is will they clear your brakes being narrower. It depends if the offset is the same or greater. There are a few fitment guides online that may help, or you may just have to test fit the wheel. Being OEM, the center bore, bolt pattern and offset should all be fine. Measure your spare (size should be written inside of the wheel) as I bet it may be narrower than the other wheels if it is a space saver. Also you could call the guys at Tire Rack as they will want to sell you new tires and should have this data.

This is very helpful, thanks. Haven't had time to work on this, but I need to get back on it. Trying to decide if I want to keep the TPMS working, by adding the sensors to whatever rims I buy.

Postscript: I pretty much gave up trying to find used wheels in good condition, so I made an appointment to get some new Blizzaks installed on my factory wheels. I inherited this car from my Mom, these wheels have seen a lot of curb action, so I need to get them reconditioned.
Then on Sunday, these popped up on craigslist, 15 minutes from my office, aftermarket rims with Blizzaks already mounted, TPMS sensors installed, even included lug nuts and the special socket. The tires had about 1000 miles on them, the rims look almost new, they were used on an '08 ES350 that was just sold. $500 for the whole package. I couldn't get the money out of my pocket fast enough. Stopped by a local tire shop, they registered the sensors to the car, now I'm all set for snow tires.
I'm usually an "OEM only" guy, but I actually really like these rims. They are 7.5" wide, but are 1/4" deeper backspacing, so they fit really well.
