2011 lexus - paint fade streaks under mirror
Hi all,
New to the forum! Hopefully someone here can help me out/provide some advice. I own a 2011 Lexus ES350 (original owner, low mileage, about 40,0000 KM).
I'd say since about a year ago I noticed that every time after I wash the car there were these vertical streaks under my mirrors on both sides (I assume it was just leftover water marks, dried water spots or something). However, recently I did a more thorough inspection and noticed that either the clear coat was gone, or the paint itself has faded, as if I run my finger across the texture definitely feels different from the neighbouring areas.
I've attached some pictures below:

Some questions:
1. Anyone know what happened here? Anyone heard/seen this before? I have no idea how/why this happened
2. Any ideas on solutions? Is this something I can just likely polish to fix?
The colour is Smoky Granite Mica if it makes a difference.
TIA!

same on my 2007, both sides, i think its its caused by water dripping down from the mirror. best i've been able to do is to clay bar the area and rewax/polish but there is still some faint residue. I wish someone would remove the mirror and see if there is something behind rusting or whatever.

Water dripping is normal on those cars but I think this is too much.
You can just polish it.
You can just polish it.

As mentioned earlier, remove the mirror, polish the stain off and reattach with a new gasket if the original is compromised. You might have a lot of salt buildup under their from winter driving. I have a blower I use to force the water out of the behind mirror. Keep it waxed.
