Cell phone , smart phone consideration
I am considering coming out of the stone age and turning in my Samsung flip phone for a smart phone. I wouldn't do it but my phone is starting to give me problems. So with that I am wrestling between 2 choices. What I am asking is if there is any issues with pairing them in my 2010 ES. I am only concerned with making sure it functions all work namely hands free through the car and all of my contacts being loaded (less then 100).
The 2 selections are : Samsung 5S or iphone 6
Thanks for the feedback.

I have been successful in using my Samsung S3 and BB Z10 in my 2007 ES. Both paired properly on first attempt and automatically reconnect when I enter the car. I have not tried transferring the address book, but have created quick call list of numbers that I call 99% of time...
I'd say just follow the instructions in your quick guide (or owners manual) and it should be fairly straight forward to set up...

I confirm that galaxy s5 works on my 11' which has the same nav unit. Contact list transfer also works. I also tested it with iPhone 5s, Galaxy note 4, Sony xperia Z3, and they all work as expected.

I think the radio is different on the 2010 but on the 2009 the Iphone will not sync contacts, no mater what I tried. .
Other than that IOS 8.1 was needed to just make phone calls.
This was an IOS bug more than a Lexus issue.

After a little deeper observation I wanted to advise you of one thing that was not possible with Samsung Phones. I use my phone for audio streaming and for phone calls in the car. With Samsung I had to choose one or the other, either phone or bluetooth player. Both features worked flawlessly on their own, but I had to go to settings and manually switch from one to another. Sony Xperia Z3 switched automatically on its own. May not be important for some people as usb audio, aux and CD, are your other audio options, but it wad important for me as I listen to podcasts every morning durung my commute to work.
