Default Reasonable price for a 2011 10K with Nav

I am new to this and my only experience with a Lexus is a 97 ES that I had owned briefly for 2 years. Loved the car but had to trade it in for a mini-van

I am in the market for a new car now and have been debating between a 2012 Acura TL vs a 2012 ES. This morning I chanced upon a 2011 ES with 10K miles on it. Single owner. Was traded in for a Merc. Has Navigation and remainder of the factory warranty. Car appears to be in pristine shape mechanically and cosmetically.

Can get it for 29,500 plus taxes. I would have preferred a 2012 but for the price and the similarities in the 2 models, I am tempted to get this instead.

Would this be considered a great deal or average? This is not Certified.

All right I was expecting a lot more responses and sage advice! Did the "Acura" mention in my post pi$$ everyone off??

I am going to try this again. I am in a dilemma here since it's a lot of money and I dont like to act on impulse

- 2011 Lexus
- Navigation, Leather etc.
- I was wrong, the car has had 2 owners but clear Car Fax and no accidents or any concerns
- 10K miles
- Asking price (now) 28,500 + tax
- This is not a CPO car, it was a trade in at another dealer (German car dealer )

Is this worth getting for the price, has close to 2 years left on the warranty.

Thanks in advance!!

I have a 2011 equipped like yours. I think the new price back in 10/2011 (leftover) was about $36,000 from a sticker of $41,000+ with all the rebates and discounts applied. No problems since but I only have 8,500 miles on it since new (16 months). If you choose to buy it, I would invest in the Lexus Platinum Extended Warranty as repairs can quickly turn into replacement parts (not repairable modules used). Great car. I would wonder why it had 2 owners in such a short time and mileage.

29,500 isn't bad at all. At 2 yr old and only 10k miles it's still under factory warranty. Sounds like it was a lease turn-in from someone who didn't drive much. On top of that, with the economy lately it's not uncommon to see cars turned in quickly after purchase when people can't afford them.

If they're asking 29,500, I'd throw 28 at them and see where they go with it.

I would be leery of two owners in 10k miles. If you do a search here there is information on a couple of good sources for discounted platinum warranties. OTOH there are a lot of 2011-12 ES350's out there. Maybe you can find a CPO for a decent price.

BTW the TL is a nice car too. Different driving dynamics it all depends on your preferences.

I agree. I come from a Camry that I used for 14 years. Japanese built. What a car!! So if I use my next car for as long then I am looking for something as dependable and I think a Lexus is a safer bet than the Acura...... right?

I'd want some answers as to why? My sister had a lemon Camaro bought back......the very same day she turned it in they had it on the rotating pedestal out front reselling it!

Default Sold!

I waited a tad too long and the vehicle sold! I am not too upset, the 2 owner thing was bothering me a little but I have learnt so much more in the process and that's invaluable!

Thanks for all the inputs. I will be back for more

I paid $1200 for 5 year / 100,000 mile / $0 deductible Platinum Warranty when we bought the car. Dealer's initial price quoted was $2000+ until I balked and said I would buy online. The finance guy asked what was I going to pay online, told him $1,200 and he matched.

28500 would have been a great price, but the two owner thing could be a bummer... but then again, could be just be good people who lost jobs....

i owned a 2003 TL and currently own a 2008 ES. My take on those two cars is, when you drive the TL you want to push it to it s limits, while with the ES you want to put it in cruise at 75 at go to sleep. it is so smooth and quiet. my only beef with the ES the original Michelins wear out at 30 000 . The michelins on my acura got considerably more miles out of it than the ones on my lexus. and everybody who owns an ES with michelins have the same experience. at 30000 you get a new set.
