Bob,like I posted above,I've had LED puddle lights in other Lexus vehicles and they worked like the stock bulb.Just a faster dimming.
There's many that have one the conversion without any problems with the LED staying 24/7.
That poster must have after marker signal light covers or something.

JJ,I've used these a few times and they were great.

However, these VLED are now a so called improved version of the LEDs I used. They're said to be too long and the socket has to be modified a bit.
I ordered and have a those LEDs but they aren't installed yet.The older LEDs were great and these are said to be even better but that modifying bothers me but the LEDs will be in soon. All the others are installed.
In fact I used one of the newer version 4 LED flanks in the trunk light of my '12 and it's very nice.

Modification info.

Just did the side mirror puddles with my buddy Club Lexus member,Koz ...
I used the so called new and improved generation VLEDS 4 LED flanks which are longer than the last ones.Seems the new LEDs have a big heat sink.
Guys that installed them on their IS's say they're better than the old ones.
I'll see if that's true when it gets dark.
The LEDS work on and off just like the oem bulbs.

A bit of a pain to install because we modified the LEDs to make them shorter with a Dremel. Also Dremeled a bit of the lens housing(NO socket modification) on the inside to make more room for the LED clearance.
Also was able to do the install without popping the mirror off which is a big plus..

No issues in Dremeling the lens assembly.
The area is on the side of the housing in the side mirror assembly and not seen or exposed to weather.Just shaving some of the interior plastic where the LED hits.
The LED will leave a black mark on where it's hitting when you screw the bulb socket into the lens housing. So you know where to shave some plastic off.
To me,there was less chance of a problem than modifying the bulb socket.
You may use a different technique when you see what's involved.

The illumination looks a bit brighter and very nice. The the old version VLEDs LEDs were nice too..
Again, the VLEDS 4 LED flanks have a heat sink on them which I don't believe comes into play because unlike many other applications, the puddle LEDs don't stay on for long periods of time.

I don't know if the housing is different because the old VLEDs LED fit without any modification and I never paid any attention to the Lens housing.
The ES bulb socket is gray where if I remember correctly the IS socket was white. So the lens housing may be different.
