Something that is helpful: get a length of 1/2" steel water pipe approx 12+ " long to slip over the Lexus lug nut wrench. Sometimes it is very difficult to remove the lug nuts when corrosion occurs due to salt or over-torqueing. Wrap the pipe with a towel and put with other tire tools. Also might put in some gloves, a tube of hand cleaner, half roll of paper towels; also check to see if you have a chock block---I can't find mine if it was ever there and I need to remember to make a wooden one, also maybe get reflector triangles; I can't imagine having to change a tire on the lane side on an interstate--with cars at 80 mph going by about three feet from you !!!! Lord help~~~~~ think I would have to wait for AAA.

My latest surprising Harbor Freight tool is the 1/2 drive electric impact wrench. It's heavy but it takes those lugs nuts off. I start them by hand, turn them down with the electric tool and torque them with the wrench. ($39.99)

When using the torque wrench, what ft./lb # do you use?

 

76 ft/lbs.

 

and another little tip. If you use snow tires, check to see if the winter rim socket size is the same as the summer lug nuts, mine are 19mm on one and 21mm on the other. Also if you run winter tires, remember to carry the summer lug nuts in the trunk as well, cause you'll need them when you swap out the summer spare if a winter tire goes down.

 

I bought a 4-way lug nut wrench about 25 years ago and I've never had a problem removing any lug nut since. The Lexus is the 4th car I've carried it in. If you buy a 4-way wrench I would suggest buying a good quality one. The last thing you want is for the weld to break when you are using it.
