Default es-350 Phone Book Import from Iphone 3GS

Hi Guys!

We just added a 2009 Es-350 With Nav to the family (wife's car)

We both have Iphone 3GS.

From what I understand Iphone does not allow BlueTooth Sending of the Contacts / PhoneBook.

From doing some searches I came to two possible solutions but wasn't sure on either of them so please chime in if you have done this or knows someone who has.

Solution one is to Jailbreak the Iphone 3GS and Install a Bluetooth Stacker.

So I have not done either and can't find instructions on what exactly is the name of the application from Cydia that needs to be installed and how to use it. Any one know on this method?

Solution Two is very complicated but does not require Jailbreaking.
These are the steps for solution two.
1. Sync Iphone with Itunes
2. Sync Itunes Contacs to Outlook.
3. Export All Contacts in VCard format to a directory.
4. Run a dos command to merge the directory full of separate Vcards into one big Vcard.
5. Bring your laptop with bluetooth and your iphone into the car.
6. Go throught the NAV screen and begin Importing Contacts.
7. When the Car prompts to send contacts via the phone at this point you begin the Vcard transfer from your laptop (man in the middle attack).

The information i got was from the web and appies to Prius and such. but should work. If anyone has done this and has better instrcutions please share.

When I get time I might give this a shoot and let you know how it goes.

Thanks
Alex.

in the same boat here with a new 2008 ES 350 I just picked up. Haven't tried your walkthrough yet, but will eventually. If anyone knows of an easier way (other than getting another phone), let me know.

I haven't had time to try it myself but if your successful it will be that much more incentive for me to go do it as well. good luck my friend and let us know how it goes.

I was kind of bummed to learn that even after you input the phone book you can't access it while driving (only when stopped) without hacking a bypass switch.

Damn you Lexus NAV!
