Well I just had the safety recall done. I really only wanted the oil hose recall but you need to get the peddle and SW update . This is manditory so you have no options. Just part of the liability issue. Peddle looks like crap and they also change the insulation under the carpet under the peddle. They put in a thinner piece of insulation. The SW change works OK. On my way back home I hit the brakes at 70mph while my foot was on the gas and the engine slows down allowing you to stop the car. It does not turn off the engine. As to the oil line they put in the replacement in about 20 mins. The whole deal took 1 1/2 hours . They also filled up the gas tank and did a wash and interior wipe down.

Are you talking about these two service campaigns?

SSC 9LG - 2007 THROUGH 2010 MY ES 350 POTENTIAL FLOOR MAT INTERFERENCE WITH ACCELERATOR PEDAL

LSC 9LH - VARIABLE VALVE TIMING (VVT-I) OIL HOSE REPLACEMENT

Is it mandatory?

They are both optional but you can not get one without the other. The oil hose replacement was only good until 3/31/2010. That is the catch. If you go in to get the hose done then they will do the peddle. Check your dealer to see if the oil hose expires by the end of the month. I was more concerned with the oil hose because of the potential mess so I went with the update.

FYI the limited service campaign 9LH (oil hose replacement) expires 3/31/2013, not 3/31/2010. While I don't want to say no rush, no one wants an oil soaked engine or garage floor!

Get the oil hose done ASAP. It is not a question of IF, but WHEN it will break. I know, mine broke in Dec.
