Default what is this "CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED PDI"

I checked the history on my O7 ES350 which I recently purchased and I found this as the last service record at 31K miles

"CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED PDI" what does this mean ?

also. I dont see the 30K major service been completed. and It seems this car was taken regularly to the same dealer. any idea.- I WILL BE TAKING IT TO THE DEALER SHORTLY>>.. any heads up as to what to expect.

thanks

PDI means Pre Delivery Inspection.

The 3 year/36K service isn't mandatory so maybe the previous owner(s) didn't have it done if they knew they were going to trade it in or sell it so close to 30K miles. Just a guess.

ha ha.. i knew it I got short staffed.. thats fine..
so that is due for me as soon as I take it in.. If the last OIL CHANGE was done at 29K and it is 32 K now.. 3 K. miles. i guess, I can wait for a few more month before doing the oil change ,etc.

Your first oil change should be free. Mine will be. I bought a CPO back in November. With some issues I'm having I wouldn't expect it to have been a CPO car if I didn't buy it from a dealer. I figure I paid a good $3k premium for the CPO title. So far everything I've called the dealer about they've said, "Sure we'll fix that when you bring it in for the first free oil change." And at $100 that'll be the only oil change the dealer ever does.

My car had 42k miles on it but the last service was the 30k. Lazy. Once again, I expected more for a Lexus CPO vehicle.

But I love driving my Lexus. I went from a 1998 Ford Escort manual everything to a 2007 Lexus ES 350 auto everything. So when life gets me down I just go for a drive.

My Lexus dealer service history would be rated poor because I have the car serviced at a local family garage in which I have known for 28 years. Their service history is extensive on the car.

That's a good point. My service record at the dealer was spotty too since I also took my car to a private shop and to the dealer just a couple of times.

Dealers pay about $1200 to Lexus to get CPO status for a car (at least for ES350).
Anything above that is gravy for the dealer. And "15,000 point meticulous CPO inspection"
costs dealer pretty pretty much nothing - couple hours of labor.

They basically buy the same 7/100,000 warranty and resell it to you at premium.
They get a discount on that warranty, and CPO cars supposedly sell better.

Actually the tech doing the certification gets paid to correct items that don't meet Lexus Cert standards. ex: brakes must have at least 50% wear remaining or be replaced. The first service due after sale cannot be a major (15k, 30k, 45k, 60k) A car sold with 42k should have had the 45k service completed.

Default Certified Pre-Owned service by Delaware dealer

Our ES350 had alot done. New brakes, new Michellin tires, and numerous other "stuff" done to it. Obviously a premium to get one of these but they give the 3 year 100,000 mile in addition which gives us some comfort zone. Probably in 3 years will look at something else. Most likely another certified, since new is outrageous for most premium cars these days. Unless the lottery ticket i bought wins.
