Your transmission shooting up a grand or two is the classic tranny flare on the 07's. There is a tech bulletin on this, which is a flash update. Take it to your dealer for the fix...it should not cost you anything.

thanks for the heads up....whats the fix for this issue? just an ecu update?

Pretty sure that is all it involves.

I took a quick look at the maintenance schedule for my car, out to 120K miles and there isn't any mention of a timing belt change.

I believe we have a timing chain. If so,it will last longer than 120K.Maybe even the life of the engine.

I've a June '06 build 2007 ES350. Right now I'm at 70,500 miles and haven't had any issues to speak of. One of my mirrors stopped tilting down after two months and it was replaced under warranty. Also had the TSIB for brake squeal done.

I absolutely love this car. The power/styling/gas mileage just can't be beat.

The stereo in the non-ML version is weak. It isn't bad, just lame for a $40K car.

This engine does have a timing chain and not a timing belt.

Yes, but they also need to check the fluid level, which I'm sure they will. It is critical and they discovered some were not filled enough. Mine was a bit low. That, with the reflash worked great! Get it done and let us know how it worked.

As for the cold engine knock, I must have gotten one of the better ones because mine does not do it. And I don't have any of the wind noise that others have complained about on the '07s. Matter of fact sometimes I like to turn off the stereo and just enjoy the unbelievable quietness of this car on the highway.

And fuel economy! Did anyone mention that?

I've had the reflash done several times, smoothed it out some, but still have occasional rough shifts.

Dealer says next step is to check transmission fluid and in order to check transmission fluid, they have to go through a process to do this, since there is no transmission fluid dipstick. Dealer says this is not covered by warranty as it is a routine maintenance item. There is a TSB for the fluid check.

How much have people paid for this service - or have people had this "complimentary".

I thought the fluid check was included in the TSIB for the reflash.
